Can we PLEASE have profile banners WITHOUT the required icon?

I really love the banner I have at the moment, but I absolutely hate the Summoner icon, its disgusting. I have seen the new URF icon and I know I want it, but I'm not buying it. If I buy it and use it, my banner will be removed.

Can you please implement an option to choose from your available banners so that we can use whatever icons we want too?

I know what you mean by solely selling the profile banner by itself but i think they kind of already do that with the Ultimate skins. it is another perk to buying RP for an ultimate skin.

I would love to choose the banner, because I have the Teemo icon enabled right now, but I was conflicted because I really wanted Sona to be my banner, not the old dude... I would love this :) it would give benefits to people who have the ultimate skins but want a different icon

I would agree with this, I like the both the icons and banners personally. But I like my other icons too. I'm sure the owners of Spirit Guard Udyr and Pulsefire Ezreal would appreciate it too.

not true some skins do actually give advantages on visual appearance and have been known to effect gameplay as well. The legendary rumble skin was making his fire cone wierd

There are actually a couple skins that make your champ smaller and harder to hit. AstroTeemo and BaronVonVeigar make them TINY. So many Gnar boomerangs have missed me in aram as veigar when they were literally on top of me.

Oh, and headhunter Nidalee is more likely to have broken invisi spears than the other skins, at least in my experience.

If I'm not mistaken, skins do not affect hitboxes due to hit boxes being hard coded into the game. Additionally, a skin is just a mesh. A hit box would be affected by the champion model which isn't altered by skins like baron von veigar.

Exactly the contrary. Since the hitbox remains the same, having a BIGGER skin will make you advantaged because a certain number of times someone will try to hit you and hit the empty part of the model instead.

Banners, icons, and skins have NO effect on the game at all so could all be considered "useless." The Banner is the last piece of vanity that Riot has yet to utilize, and until they figure some way to let us customize it, we must suffer looking at that outdated summoner image (unless you have the ultimate skins). I personally believe that they should implement banner rewards for the upcoming Champion Mastery system. That way, if we master a champion, we get their banner that we can use on our profile page. It's win win for everyone.

I really agree these should be separated out. In addition to the added individual customizability for those with ultimate skins, it also enables them to start rewarding or selling profile banners in a similar manner to icons, or as rewards for the upcoming Mastery system (HINT HINT).
