GAINING AND LOSING LP! WHYYYY!???

Arkhan··4 votes·950 views

Why in the hell do I lose 21 LP when I lose. But when I win, its only 16 or 17.

I just won 2 games in a row, gained 16 and 17 LP, then lose one (because we had an AFK) and I lose 21 LP.

Someone PLEASE explain this to me. Because it is starting to frustrate me to no end.

It's hard enough to climb without losing MORE when you lose.

Thats a 5 LP difference (comparing 16 to 21.) So that means, if I lose 4 games, it sets me back 20 LP. Which is the more than One Victory's worth.

Why.

I mean, I can deal with the AFKs, Trolls, and people who are just having bad games. But damn. If its not one thing its something else.

Short Answer: **Cuz u Bad. **

Long Answer: You are plateauing.

You have reached the state of your skill limitation. The game is trying to balance you out into the proper rank. From looking you up, you have been Bronze in Season 4/5, so it is not big of a surprise.

Your MMR is garbage.

"But I KNOW I AM BETTER!". Trust me. You are not.

I have played on fresh Bronze 5 accounts and I was able to easily (81%+ win rate overall) on all of them into Gold 5, and Plat 5. It is easily done IF you have the skill and knowledge.

Best you can do, is watch Master+ games and learn from it.

Use Champion.gg (website) to look up Highest win rate items.

Master 2-3 roles and stick to them. Know at least 6 of the TOP 20 champions and spam them.

You can also ask to be boosted in DQ.

I didn't really play Ranked in Season 4. And in Season 5 I got Silver. As for the rest of your information, you are wrong. I won't argue with you because I can tell what kind of person you are.

Your only argument is that you have more wins than losses (You have 199 wins / 195 losses).

Let's look at it this way: Your MMR is around Silver 5, for you to move up, you need to CLEAN your MMR to make it better. You need at least 3 wins 1 losses ratio. However, Because you are most likely Win one, and Lose one, your MMR stays the same (Plateauing). I've climbed through every elo Except Master+.

AFKs happen in every elo, Trolls exist in my elo, that is not an excuse. Whatever you are doing, you believe you are doing it well. There is ALWAYS room to improve. We are not Pro players, so we have to work harder.

So truthful. As hard as it is for players to admit its really the most important thing to know. I am still sad I lost my last ranked game as I was 15-8-15 as lux (not great but died a lot at end). Cs was low and w/e but we had a nice lead most the game even got an inhib and nexus turrets. As mad as I was at our twitch for not pushing with us after an Ace and trying to end (we got inhib & 2 nexus turrets with Lux Maokai Amumu ) but twitch went bot instead even though we still had some time. In the end I got caught out alone, which lead them to baron and maybe even eldger drag which ended in gg even though we were ahead most the game. I realize I fucked up bad and could have played better, just sucks losing games like that :(.

I think a problem I personally have developed is overthinking too much. I have been watching a lot of pros play lately and realize just how bad I am at this game. So now when I play every time I miss a cs or miss a Morgana snare I get distracted on thinking how bad I am. That distraction makes me play even worse. Just need to take it game by game on focus on improving and realize everyone makes mistakes and enjoy the game at hand. I am Gold not challenger so making mistakes between myself, the team, and the enemy is pretty common.

This is the best reply I have received. Thank you.

You were also less rude. Which I enjoyed.

cuz you suck

It means your MMR is much lower then it should be. The more you win however it will increase the amounts that you gain and even out.

Arkhan1 votes

But I have more wins than losses. Isn't that how it works?

Sukishoo1 votes

Yes but you have to have a substantially bigger amount of wins vs loses in most cases for it to make the change. Yours appear to be pretty even, being that you are at about 190+ on each.

Like for mine it'd be pretty bad as well if I started playing ranked again, cause I've won 4 games and lost 7 this season (and those were all just the placement).

Oh I understand. I don't like it, but I do understand

mmr is a hell of a thing

Arkhan1 votes

I dont understand how MMR works, I have more Wins than Losses

Have you been playing duo or premade games a lot?

Edit: I believe playing duo or premade games with players who are a lower can affect ones mmr. I did look on op.na.gg at it said your mmr is lower than average. Not really sure why since you do have more wins than losses. Need to get on a winning streak to get your mmr back up.

I got to Silver by myself, but my friends are Bronze. I hate to avoid playing with them when they ask me (because they are my friends,) so maybe this is why my MMR is low.

I believe the official statement on Riot is that you should steadily climb with a 55% win rate. This means you will climb if you win 11 out of 20 games. That's 11 wins and 9 losses.

You have noticed a pattern that shows 5 wins is the same as 4 losses. 5 wins out of 9 games is ... 56%. So, if you consistently play at this 55% rate, you will adjust your MMR and start to climb.

Except that 4 losses gets you demoted most times, so you're screwed.

The system is SEVERELY BROKEN.

especially with the idiotic "promotion" mechanic.

The system uses your last X games to see if it places your correctly. Lets say it's 20 games.

You are Silver 5. If your last 20 games you lost 14 and won 6 the system will assume you don't deserve your current rank.

It'll match you against lower ranked opponents (high bronze) but you will lose more LP than you gain.

It's all more complicated but this is the gist of it.

Thank you

Because your MMR is significantly lower than your division; this also means you have likely been losing games against people you shouldn't have lost against if you are supposed to be in that division. So you are being adjusted down because of your performance, so that if it continues your rank will descended to where you are rated.

But this slow, only 5 LP in your case, because the League system is giving you time to improve yourself and keep your current rank ( the League system is designed to assist you in climbing) instead of immediately booting you down the ladder like we had before it.
