Three Reasons 10 Bans is very important to me
I see a lot of people saying 10 bans is a bad idea because "more people's picks will get banned". Let me go over some reasons why 10 bans is very important.
1: There are too many champions now. Back when we originally had 6 bans there were 40 champions in LoL. That means you could ban out 15% of the total champion selections. Leaving the remaining 85% to be played. This was good because if there was a current top 10% of champions who were broken you could ban them all out. But now there are 136(may have miscounted if you want to recheck recheck). That means you can ban out 4.4% of the total champions as a collective two teams. It gets even worse if you account for your team only having 3 bans. 4.4% is puny, that means if there is a top 10% of broken champions you cannot even ban out half of them, nevermind a surplus. With 10 bans we could effectively as two teams ban out 7.3% of the total champions. Still doesn't compare to that original 15% but it is a lot more of the patch broken fotm champions knocked out of the picture. This broadens diversity. Instead of just playing what is definitely OP or safe this patch people will be forced to make more thoughtful picks.
Even as a one trick myself, this seems far more important than the risk of my main champion getting banned.
2: Everyone gets a say. No more begging your third pick to ban Darius because you are top lane first pick and your entire champion pool gets bullied out of lane by Darius. Now you can do it yourself. Moreover, no more being that third pick and wanting to ban Graves but feeling pushed into banning Darius because player 1 and player 2 want you to. Sure, some people will still ask for bans, but the cases where they can say "We didn't ban x that is why we lost" will get massively reduced as they had their own chance to ban x. Likewise the times you felt you lost because nobody on your team banned Lee because they were busy banning Aatrox, will vanish as you are now assured to get your own ban.
You are never forced into your hard counter, assured to lose, not fun, not winnable lane matchup just because you were unlucky enough to be first or second pick.
Even as a one trick myself, this seems far more important than the risk of my main champion getting banned.
3: It forces Riot to fix certain champions. There is more than balance to consider in LoL. Right now for example Yasuo is 'weak' in terms of win-rate and numbers. But he is frustrating to fight. While I myself have no hatred or problems with Yasuo the community as a whole prefers him ban, his winrate and playrate mean nothing. He is just annoying to fight. Not Teemo annoying, but feels like a completely unfair design to a lot of people annoying. By having 10 bans more champions will be perma-ban/near permaban. If those champions are never showing up in normal games or LCS games because they are always ban, Riot is forced to reconsider if their design or numbers need to change. There can be no 'Lee Sin favoritism'(which I don't fully believe in anyway) for example, if he is permanently benched. Therefore if Riot wants to see him played they have to look at his design and numbers to convince players he isn't worth their ban. In my case, Master Yi will never be unbanned until he receives changes.
Even as a one trick myself, this seems far more important than the risk of my main champion getting banned.
Now before somebody says "You play Shyvana, nobody is going to ban her anyway!" rarely yes, it doesn't mean she will never be meta again like late S5 and early S6. Also that says nothing for my Sejauni(just reworked), Riven(popular ban), Ashe(broken when meta) and Soraka(a lot of people hate her when she is viable) who will experience banning. I still view 10 bans as more important than the risk of my primary pick getting banned.
These are the big reasons I want 10 bans in the game. What are your reasons for wanting them?
