I think arurf is Riot's attempt to make us hate urf
I've been pointed to an old AMA about urf and why Riot doesn't seemingly like the concept or why they'll never release old urf where you can...You know, pick your own damn champion. But I have a theory about why the new urf is the way it is.
Alot of people on here, and reddit seem to agree that this interpretation of urf is by far the worst, for a few reasons in particular. Problem champions aren't banned out or even have the ability to be banned out since we have no bans.
One giant problem I have this season and the season before was how high the damage was/is in the game and Riot's apparent love for the damage is just shown in urf. Most item actives are offensive abilities or tied to an offensive item (I said most dammit not all) and those have a massively lowered cooldown on them because, you know? It's urf. So why don't defensive items with triggered passives have thier's reduced? Banshees is still it's base cooldown, Hexdrinker/Maw has it's cooldown untouched, GA has it's cooldown untouched. Seems like most defensive items in URF have no use except those used strictly for the secondary effects.
This all brings me back to my first point at the beginning of this rant. Riot, IMO, wants to make urf not as enjoyable as it can be so people will stop begging them to bring it back.
This is all just a theory, but I've been in games on the losing and winning side where I see things like "This is the worst urf ever" "Why don't we have bans" "Why is X allowed to be in urf" "X makes urf unbearable" And I've said alot of those myself. Urf loses it's magic when you see a champ on the enemy team or yours and automatically know they're going to be fed to high shit and make the game suck for whoever has to deal with it and you're stuck with a low tier champ because the random gods deemed you to have the shit end of the stick.
And to believe all of this could have been avoided if they just gave us futher mucking bans.
