Trouble With Orianna

Is it just me or does the champion Orianna seem extremely weak early on, and in my case frankly later on as well. In early lane phase I find myself getting bullied out of lane and/or killed quite simply. I may be new to the game but I sought out this champion after recognizing what her ultimate could mean in a team fight. I mainly play Sandra midlane but I am attempting to branch out. I guess I'm asking for tips as to how I may even win lane with Orianna or possibly carry a game. It's just depressing really as for such high hopes I had for this champion that I must reach out due to my inability to, in my mind, play her correctly. Please recognize I am only level 22 and any information is helpful.

In my opinion I feel as if shes extremely mana hungry early game.

She is incredibly mana hungry early and is item dependent for alot of damage. Once she gets going though she can destroy a team with a good ult. One thing to remember she has pretty good auto attack damage thanks to her passive, makes for good harass and easy cs.

Depending on who you are facing you may want to just ward up, focus on getting good cs and grouping for dragon rather than going for kills.
