Zeal items really need to be looked at... one of these is not as common as the others...

TL;DR: Make there be more impact in which zeal item is being bought by extablishing clear pros and cons of each one more clearly. Basically make Phantom dancer the clearly best crit chance of them all like it use to be compared to shivv

Marksmen make up 21ish of 130 champs which is only 16.15% of the champs... I say 21ish because of champs like Urgon, Ezreal, Graves and Jayce who are kinda like marksmen but do not really fit the standard of how most marksmen work in building crit currently. This is not about them though. This is about the fact that there is often 3+ marksmen in a game much of the time these days. They have several different items that give them extremely different power while all building from zeal but one of them seems to be kinda underwhelming compared to the others.

Currently there are 5 zeal items. 4 of these items are clearly more aimed at crit builders with 30% Crit chance. 3 of these items have an additional damage of some kind be it lightning, an empowered longer range auto attack or attacking three targets at once.

Then you have Phantom Dancer. Last season this item was the clear best damage option for a crit zeal item. it had 35% crit chance compaired to the 20% of shiv which had the lightning damage. These three have their place in the game currently.

But what does Phantom dancer offer over the other crit zeal itmes now? all of 5 to 15% more attack speed. It is not a better option then the other three in any situation outside of a 1v1 which marksmen are classically not the best for.

Much of this seemed to stem from Zeal getting 20% crit chance making crit the main state of the item instead of attack speed which is now 15%. With that change all of the zeal crit items gotr a boost in crit chance besides phantom dancer which got nerfed to 30% from 35% which in turn made it lose it's reaso nto be bought over other zeal items.

So first off zeal giving 20% crit chance seems to be too high and makes the base limit for crit chance on Hurricane, Shivv and Rapidfire have to be above at least 20%. So why is zeal not changed to have 15% crit chance and 20% attack speed instead? Hurricane, Shivv and Rapidfire which are actually fairly chap for bieng mutiplictive damage stacking items would lost some crit chance (5% on shiv and rapidfire while Hurricane loses 10) all of these get 5% more attack speed due to the higher attack speed from zeal. All of these items have a place still but lower overall crit chance.

Now for changes to Phantom Dancer: Zeal + dagger + Brawler Gloves 40% attack speed, 35% crit chance same movement speed passives. It is now clearly the best single target damage option for a markmsen to get. It might actually be bought as a 4th or 5th item since it is the highest damage boost option overall with this change.

Also trinity force loses 5% crit chance reducing it to 15% crit chance but gets back it's old 30% attack speed up from the current 15%. This items is not only bought by marksmen but also a fair number of fighters who get more value out of their on hit damage over a chance at double damage.

PD is the best Zeal item, at least for melee champs and short ranged adcs like Graves, Vayne, and Sivir; Idk wtf you're talking about.

You seem to be greatly underestimating just how valuable damage reduction and the removal of unit collision are.

They turned Trinity Force from a fighter item into a Corki item.

Up vote for making trinity have noticeable attack speed at the cost of some crit chance.

I think phantom dancer is in the perfect spot atm. Clearly the duelling item by excellence with overall better stats (with the AS) and damage reduction and not a passive that has instantaneous burst power. But I like the trinity force idea.
