Friendly reminder that it's not over until the Nexus is gone. :3

Title, obviously.

Alrightt. This is my last game from Saturday. As you can see, our only gold advantage in the entire game was at 1 minute in, when our Zilean probably landed a Q on an enemy. From 2 minutes in and forward, we never had a gold advantage, that difference spiking at 39 minutes in, with the enemy team having an advantage of 13,771 gold. Someone wanted to FF. We could have, but we didn't. Our only advantage of any kind was that, from 13 to 14 minutes in, we had one more turret, and, from 6 to 12 minutes in, we had one more kill.

Yet we won.

Through sheer tenacity, we waited out their gold advantage. We had lost four turrets and an inhibitor before we took a third turret, but we won. We wizened up, and stopped doing stupid crap.

I'm Bronze 3. The highest rank I've ever held is Bronze 1. Yet I've managed this turnaround. If I can manage it, so can anyone.

The game's not over until the Nexus is down. Turrets, kills, inhibitors, score, Baron, Elder, drakes, items, CS, Herald…none of it decides the game. Only the Nexus does. Don't throw away a chance to win because your team's at a disadvantage. Play it to the end, no matter how bitter it looks, and you may just surprise yourself.

Why people downvote this. It is a great illustration of "NEVER GIVE UP". LoL has a lot of catchup mechanisms that DotA doesn't. Inhibs respawn, minions get more powerful for the winning side (makes it easier to get gold without going too far out), max build and max level come much sooner, etc. Riot wants a game that can turn if the losing team gets their shit together, and they have been working for years to tune the game this way.

I think the initial downvotes came from the downvote bots that roam the site, downvoting every post they find. Maybe someone that thought I was bragging or condescending. Can't say.

Anyways, thanks! :3

Not trying to bash you or anything, I love comebacks, especially one as big as yours. But higher up, players push their advantages and force objectives. There's little chance but to be steamrolled. With a 13k advantage, that's like everybody on the enemy team having a full item more. No way the losing team can contest Baron or Drake, or even their outer/mid turrets. Of course, if the losing team has scaling champions and good team fights, a turnaround is possible.

We had better scaling and some serious luck. We also had more skill, we were just crapped on in early. Once we managed to bypass the nonsense of Jayce mid, we did pretty well. It only took time

Oh, by the way. Our scores?

So, yes. We won, with one less turret, one less Baron, one less Drake and Dragon, four less inhibitors…and one more Nexus.

Edit: can anyone tell me how to fix that? I put the ?noredirect thingy at the end, and it didn't show the pic...

Tell me, in every 20 games like this....how much have you actually won in the end ? The highest rank I've ever held was Silver 3 and I say FF when you have a garbage team.

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

Really? About 60% of the times we haven't FFed too early. Team wasn't garbage, we were crapped on in early.

Climbing the ladder isn't really about any individual game to be honest. It's better to just forfeit when you're way behind than drag it out in hopes of you winning. Chances are, you're not gonna win those games. You may win one here or there, but they'll be rare. It's better to just FF at 20 than lose in 40-50.

Say you forfeit and have time to play 3 games, win 2 and lose the one, vs you dragging that out to 40 minutes and in that same span you can only play two games. Sometimes you'll go something like Win win, but that'll be rare. The majority of the time you'll lose/win, or even lose/lose, making the overall LP gain over time on average will be higher if you just forfeit those games

Except every loss brings your MMR down, so it'll take longer to climb.

But this wasn't a ranked match, anyways. It was normals.

And, even more importantly, what's the point of playing if you FF as soon as it gets difficult? Aren't you supposed to strive to win? Play to the end, or don't play at all. Leave no task undone. Victory or death, it matters not, so long as you show honor. Whatever motivational poster you use, it's the same concept. There is no point to starting something if you're not going to play to your fullest.

it doesn't matter if every loss brings your MMR down, that is obvious...

Reread what i said...

I don't think you understand this game well enough to be honest. There are games you simply cannot win, and the vast majority of the time when the score ends up like it did throughout the early stages of your game, it'll end up in a loss. You'll win maybe 1/10 of the games that end up like this.

If it's a normal, even more incentive to surrender. It's not that fun getting shit stomped in a one sided game for 40 minutes or trying to carry your retarded allies that won't surrender.

If you aren't insanely far behind, yeah play it out, but overtime you should figure out what games are winnable and which ones aren't.

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

Some games are basically unwinnable, sure. Typically those games only exist with an unviable team comp (e.x. no tanks against 3 assassins). But you sound like you're saying I should have surrendered. Why, exactly, should I have done so? Because the game wasn't over in 20 minutes? Because it looked bad? We won, and we earned it. Isn't earning a win better and more fun than simply curb stomping a team?

or trying to carry your retarded allies that won't surrender.

Fun fact: Usually I'm the one constantly mashing "No" on the button. I'm also usually the carry.
