[SurrenderAt20] Supposed changes to BE system. Can anyone compare?

This thread is not a complaint about the new BE system. I am asking about recent changes to the system that supposedly went live/are about to go live

According to this SurrenderAt20 Article, http://www.surrenderat20.net/2017/11/red-post-collection-quick-gameplay_22.html#1, there were some changes to the loot tables of Champion Chests. Has anyone recently opened one and been able to compare the results? If I am reading it correctly, you are supposed to get raw BE from the level, along with some random shards.

From the article

_BLUE ESSENCE IN LEVELING CAPSULES Next up, let's talk about leveling capsules. We're currently seeing some players complaining about getting too many of the same type of shards. This is actually a pretty easy problem to solve. We're going to retune the system so that it never drops more than a couple 260 RP champion shards at once when you level up. Instead, you'll now receive some combination of shards along with a batch of BE. This change won't affect the overall amount of BE you get from each drop, but we think it'll make each drop feel a little better. These adjustments are also going live sometime today. _

As it says, it doesn't change anything except the champions you get out of the capsules

this is strictly worse. with the current system if you want to get champion shards for a level 6 or 7 mastery token easier with now. instead we'll have to level up EVEN MORE to get the tokens we need for that champion instead of the freaking blue essence. i'm telling you this is bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God dammit... well I hope this just means they are increasing the odds of a higher cost shard drop. I get folks feel this might feel better but they are silly and it makes me sad. Shards = 40% discounts, So what if you have to disenchant them or own them. Let the folks who still need to unlock champions benefit from a surplus of options, lower cost shards are a lot easier to upgrade to permanents and flesh out champion pools for new players. If the BE rates the same and there's no increase of higher value shards then this change sucks and its irritating to me that folks think it feels better.
