How Riot Will Fall

Hello!

Today, I am here to point out obvious flaws in the company we love. They have crafted a game so beloved and defined a genre that has pushed new boundaries on what we know as competitive gaming.

But where competitive gaming takes a game, the game needs a player base to keep momentum.

I began playing LoL at the end of season 3, on August 8, 2013. I was instantly enthralled at the creation of characters and their uniqueness to each other. After all, I had been playing CoD for a little bit, got into MineCraft, no-lifed Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3. I had been introduced to an entirely new genre that I have been playing almost every day up to this season.

I learned a lot, and I am still determined to get better. Season 4 was the first season I tried very hard about midway through. I got to Silver II in the preseason of five, determined to get to Gold. I main Ashe and other various supports, and even though they weren't hypercarries, as long as I knew my champion, I was fine. Season 4 had its ups and downs, but nothing beats the balance I've seen in Season 5.

Some givens in Season 4 were obvious: Master Yi was OP, Katarina was a massive snowballer, Ahri was meh-tiered (there for a while, then she got compensations), Fiora was click-to-win, and Vayne was the best tank-splitter. These were obvious things. So people could pick champions around that to counter the OPs, and then could win. There was counter play to many things.

However, Season 5 brought a new side of Riot I hate and fear. They lack Agile Development.

I understand Riot wants to change the game up a bit. That's perfectly understandable. But Riot is completely doing it wrong.

First off, the PBE is not being used properly. THE PUBLIC BETA ENVIRONMENT SHOULD BE USED TO BALANCE AND LOOK FOR BUGS. There was no reason that devourer and the juggernauts should have been pushed to live. But against the advice of the PBE, it was pushed anyways. Mordekaiser HAD A 93% BAN RATE AT WORLDS. Wow. Should have listened to us, Riot. Cinderhulk dominated the jungle for a few patches, and then the benefactors (Sejuani) were nerfed. Then CH was later nerfed, and no compensation was brought back for Sejuani. She is now pretty much shit tier.

Devourer dominated the jungle thereafter, and even after successive failed attempts at AS jungle items, Riot let this item terrorize the jungle scene for two months. I was ready to pull my hair out. People begged for it to be balanced and it never happened. The playerbase was ignored for LCS big plays.

Vayne and Jinx were left as powerhouses in ADCs for the majority of the season. Tank supports were downright so good until recently. People begged and Riot never answered.

The keystone masteries have now made unkillable monsters even more unkillable. Yes, I am talking about Tryndamere ,Yasuo Soraka Brand . The most hated champs right now.

See, the problem isn't that Riot isn't trying to refresh the game. They are making a FOTM cycle that targets more expensive champions. They aren't adjusting the game so that everyone is to a point balanced.

Notice how Vayne and Jinx, who are both >= 4800 were massively strong? While Ashe and Sivir were good, but not amazing? Darius and Skarner are other examples. But besides the marketing standpoint, Riot should be doing these things:

  • They need a complaint system ~Us players have no way of directly communicating with Riot. There should be a flag system for certain champions for level 30+ Silver + Players who can complain that champions are wrecking the walls

~ Riot needs to be AGILE, a champion is flagged, a hotfix needs to be developed and released within five days, and a more suitable long-term nerf or adjustment needs to implemented

IT SHOULDN'T TAKE MORE THAN TWO MONTHS TO SEE A CURRENT FOTM CYCLE EXIST

EVERY CHAMPION NEEDS TO BE EQUALLY GOOD

Nobody likes to waste hours getting good with a champion only to be stomped a by a newer, OP champ.

The FOTM cycle and the inability for Riot to make quick decisions will cause many players to move on. How many players would quit paying Blizzard if a new PVP weapon was so broken because someone paid extra for it. It's frustrating for new and old players. I would rather pay a monthly subscription to make every champion good and not this stupid shit with FOTM. Riot will fall because they don't act quick enough and they can't balance a game. After all, if players currently addicted to Fallout 4 got destroyed by a deathclaw over and over again, would they return?

It will start slowly, and gain momentum. People play champions they love. I always cry a little when Ashe gets nerfed. Soon, thousands of players will move games because balancing takes too long. Riot is more worried about new skins or new items and not balance. Please, listen to my plea. Listen to all of us. Save League from the ESPN effect.

[zombie-brand-mindblown]

SO PLEASE RIOT, BE QUICKER WITH THE FIXES. IM REALLY TIRED OF WAITING FOR WEDNESDAY TO COME TO SEE IF A NEW PATCH IS OUT SO A CHAMPION ISN'T STOMPING EVERY GAME.

While I agree with most of your statement, Using the Fallout4-Deathclaw as an example was horrible. All you'd have to do it go back out into the wasteland and level a bit, or customize your weapons or any number of other things to become stronger and then come back to the Deathclaw (assuming it has an in game trigger for that location). I'm sorry, but comparing imbalance to underleveledness (yes, that's a word now) in two completely different games isn't fair to either game. For some, League is easy to deal with while Fallout4 would be a nightmare, and Vice Versa. Fallout4 isn't as balanced as you make it sound (yes, I am still currently playing the game myself). Now, for stuff to get fixed properly, it can and will take time. You wouldn't want a mechanic to put in a new drive shaft within like 10 minutes, when it should take and hour or more to be done properly. Riot, as the developer, is the mechanics to this game League of Legends. It will take time to balance as the game is constantly evolving. You wouldn't want you personal items to be (forgive my language) %%%%%% rigged. You would want them to be properly fixed the way it should be done. In closing, you may want speed at fixes, but having quick fixes isn't the answer to a game like this.
