It gets really annoying when people don't finish games no matter which team is doing it. Here is a great example why I always ignore my team when they want to drag out a game and not take the Nexus.

There are a lot of times where games, particularly ARAM, where this behaviour is found. It ends up costing games or even more so, extending an inevitable loss longer than intended.
It's a masochistic, "Heh.. We're having fun, but they're not. Heh, let's give em a little hope before we end it. Heh." It's pleasure at the cost another's misfortune. So stop justifying that gimmicks like OP stated are all in the name of fun. Because it's not.
