OK So here are the 2 teams:

Caitlyn ADC MissFortune Taric Support Bard Twitch Jungle Nocturne Vladimir Mid Orianna Me Top Akali

Here's the thing, I'm a one-trick GP. But with only 1 tank on our team and 2 assassins on theirs (akali vs GP is a horrible lane), I had to improvise; and so I picked Singed.

Now the question is, was that the correct pick in that situation? For me it was because Singed has an ok time laning against akali, he won't be threatened much by nocturne, and they had little CC so I can run around them easily.

Sadly, the game was dodged and so I had to come here and ask cause I'm really curious now.

EDIT: Welp, it's unanimous, I suck. Better stick to playing GP.

Thanks everyone for your feedback it's really helpful ^^

Singed is a decent pick, but first-timing him probably won't yield good results. With teammates such as the Cait and Twitch who need peel, I'd recommend either Maokai or Galio.

Edit: Poppy would also be good to stop the Akali from reaching your backline in teamfights.

If you think that Akali is going to smash you the best choice is actually to ask Vlad to let you mid (pretty sure Vlad vs Akali is fine).

singed is ok but i dont know what you are gonna do to keep the assassin from the back line... you are gonna try to split and proxy do singed things.

if you wanted a tank there i would of gone with maokai.

rush into mask... vs akali and she wont be able to do anythign to kill you and you can cc her or noc if they would try and dive with W or ULT and also gave your team an engage

If you're actually a one trick, you should not play anything else in ranked.

Two big reasons for that, the first being since you're a one trick you are presumably relatively bad at the majority of other champions, and ranked is absolutely not the right place to learn (especially a very unique champion such as singed). The second reason is, as a one trick (who is presumably sub-diamond although I didn't look you up), your superior mastery of the champion should be far more influential than the specific match up.

my opinion is that both taric and vlad count as tanks for your team and while singed is quite useful i've never seen him do good vs poke.

taric is good for counter engage/anti dive which is good vs noc/akali with his ult...

vlad is a ap carry i know he gets "tanky" but is no tank.

vlad is an ap carry that gets around 5k health and 1k per empowered q/ ult mid-late.

lol HP dont = a tank

there are alot of fucking hp stacking champs that arent tanks

a tank by definition is a champ who has low damage out put but lots of cc/peel/ engage

Vladimir gets nowhere near 5,000 HP. And don't begin to bring up him building tank items, as nobody really does that outside of a situational Spirit Visage against all AP teams.

  1. Poppy would have been a decent choice. She's a tank and her W protects from dives. They have a bit of dive power.
  2. Akali vs GP is mostly a skill matchup. I think Akali wins more in the early game and GP if the game goes long and you know how to use barrels.
  3. Singed is okay vs her
  4. If you want more CC, Malz or Kennen do well against her. You could also do weird things like top Sej or leona. Just practice those in normals first.
  5. Panth would have been an interesting choice, he harasses all melee champs very well and he has snowball potential off of ganks.
  6. If you have a twitch on your team, you should always consider shen. Yes she does well against him, but you'd have team fight advantages if you submarine in off of a twitch stealth play.
  7. You needed better hard engage and sion does well against her.
