Petition to make Captain Miss Fortune the default skin for Miss Fortune

A while ago, I read the burning tides story on the universe page, it was great and all, but I distinctly remember reading what miss fortune did/was and being really surprised about her in-game looks and quotes. In the burning tides story, MF was this scheming master mind bad ass that overthrow the tyranny of one of the most atrocious pirates to ever land on Bilgewater. In the game she looks like an expensive, pirate cosplay whore, she's there to be fap material and nothing else. Her quotes? a mix of seduction quotes even pornstars would cringe at, and a couple of solid ones that are actually good. Now Reav3 said they're updating her splash art, so I think captain miss fortune should be the default skin for miss fortune, cause it fits her, and makes her look like a badass. And rename the current default skin to "Busty Tavern Wench Miss Fortune" for extra points ( ͡ ° ͜ʖ ͡°)

EDIT: Well, this has sparked 3 things in my mind: 1- Everyone agrees that champions should look like their lore character. But not everyone seems on board with the idea that their looks should be updated in the game as their character is updated in the lore. 2- Riot might opt out of doing this so they can avoid what happened with the overwatch tracer's win pose. Thanks SJWs. 3- Would be awesome to have a rioter who works on lore/world building comment on this, but as I said, tracer's win pose.

Seriously, while there's nothing wrong with wanting a character to be more than sex appeal, people need to stop degrading female characters like this. Old MF was a sexy, flirty, gun slinging bad ass who could out drink men. She had a mercenary type of persona. She lived her life doing what she wanted, but was less heroic than say Braum.

Are you really that delusional? Even her attire is seriously impractical and revealing and your definition of "Well she's just having fun." is utter bs as you could say the same about your example of Ashe's taunt which is pretty much the same thing as she's confident enough in her skill to kill that she can taunt them like that.

How is "How do you like my guns... Shock, and Awe!" sexual? It's a military doctrine ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_and_awe ), she names her guns after it (+ apparently some Star Wars reference to Han Solo guns)

MF lacks half the determination from her lore and no sign of trauma in her quotes which is the sole reason why she is supposted to be extremely driven for revenge. Look what happened to Vayne. You don't see her "having fun".

Miss Fortune is having fun without objectifying her body or making sexual innuendos, while Ashe is having fun objectifying her body and making sexual innuendos, that's the difference, the former is feminine, the latter is flirting.

That's just not true, if there's anything the internet loves, it's actual sluts. Also, Miss Fortune never looked / sounded / seemed like a badass. You don't see me complaining about ahri, cause her appearance and quotes match her lore.

I love Miss Fortune (she's my only ADC) and her sexiness is a huge reason why I play her. It defines her in a way...It's so over-the-top and obnoxious but it's for a purpose (to avenge her mother and save Bilgewater), which makes her badass.

I never use her base or Captain skin so OP's idea is irrelevant to me, but I agree with your post 100%.

Riot released in a statement i can't (be bothered to) find that the Captain Fortune skin is, in a sense, her default skin.

They said that Captain fortune is how Miss Fortune within the lore dresses while commanding her ship. Her base skin is how she dresses after making harbor and relaxing. She does not dress like that while actually commanding her vessel. Both skins are cannon, one is work, the other is (p)leasure.

I disagree. Burning Tides even makes it more apparent, that the way MF dresses in her normal skin is a facade. She lets the other pirates and people around her think that, yeah she's fierce, but she's also a bimbo.

She uses her looks as a sort of distraction from her true intents. It was what helped her stay under the radar of GP for so long. I think the opening scene depicts that well, the bar is jovial and uplifted, MF is the ring master behind all this joy. But as soon as she departs the bar, and rids herself of the facade (though not the clothes) she is a completely different person. She turns into the Captain she truly is.

So I do think Captain MF is a more accurate depiction of MF, but her classic skin tells more of her story and what she has had to do in order to become the Captain.

Also, she doesn't keep an iron grip on Bilgewater once it's over. Bilgewater is in a civil war essentially, and then being bombarded by Shadow Isle ghoulies. She won the battle, but she hasn't won the war. She isn't THE CAPTAIN, just yet.

Notice you even flawed your own statement from stating, the captain to saying "a captain". There's a difference. MF didn't want to be a captain, she wants to be THE CAPTAIN. Did you read the story?

Apparently, Riot said that here base skin is her "normal clothes/leisure clothes", the captain skin is what she wears when actively being a captain.

There is so much wrong with this post I don't even know where to start.

  • beautiful - staying in shape - taking care of one self =/= being a whore

  • sassy - playful - spirited =/= flirty

  • a woman talking to you =/= seduction - flirting - trying to get in your pants

Miss Fortune is a beautiful, confident, sassy, playful, carefree, skilled bounty hunter, she enjoys life and is having a lot of fun and her character reflects that and there is nothing wrong with it.

I like that." / "Sure you can handle me, summoner?" and the general way she speaks is seductive / flirty; which would be fine, if it fit the character. a woman talking to you =/= seduction - flirting - trying to get in your pants... No fuckin' shit.

The difference between Sassy - Playful - Spirited and Seductive - Flirty is the difference between Ahri (a sexy character that should be sexy) and Taliyah.

Miss Fortune is not seductive or flirty at all, she is feminine, it's different. Flirt implies sexual innuendos, never Miss Fortune says or shows anything that would be categorized as sexual.

"You've got dangerous eyes... I like that." / "Sure you can handle me, summoner?" She is defiant in a playful not too serious manner.

"the general way she speaks is seductive." No? The fact that you think she is trying to seduce you says more about you that it says about her when she is talking fairly normally.

Ashe is flirty, several of her quotes are sexual innuendos, Ahri is a succubus, that's what she does. Miss Fortune is simply having a blast.

Miss Fortune is a bounty hunter, not a pirate, although she has a crew of her own, they operate very differently from your everyday pirates. I am not sure if this was confirmed, but I believe captain MF is a depiction of what she wore during the Burning Tides event and not her everyday wear.

Well gangplank's appearance was updated to reflect his lore. And I think Miss Fortune's appearance should too.

MF's skin was just something the skin team had in the works to flesh out the event.

yes and no. riot says her base skin is her every day wear and the captain skin is what she wears when commanding her ship. her base skin is not what she wears when she is sailing.

They really should Update Miss Fortunes Voice over first and foremost. The current one doesnt even reflect a third of what she is in lore.

Her current classic look to me feels like a everyday outfit, while her Captain skin is when she does official formal stuff that pirate captains do.

Captain is not her default skin. It is currently a 975 skin for her. If it was default, it would be her Classic skin that you see her in when you play her, and you wouldn't have to buy it. It would be pretty fantastic if they did make it her default skin, and shift her current classic into a Traditional role.

Additionally, to the OP, you have to understand that MF is one of like the original 40, if I'm not mistaken, and if she isn't, she was still released pretty damn early in this game's life. Her VO has not been updated since, and it still operates on the generic personality tropes that champions from those days were built around. The Burning Tides lore involving her is relatively new, and one of the spearheads for the lore team's effort in giving us beautiful, creative lore that gives the characters life and pulls them away from the derivative tropes they were based on. Miss Fortune will need a VO update at some point in the near future, just to make her more serious and to strip out the outdated lines, such as her discussion with the players as summoners.

Yes, I do. And Captain Fortune is not her default skin. If it was her default skin, you wouldn't have to buy it, it would automatically be how she looks when you first buy her and have no skins. Pirate Whore Miss Fortune is her default (classic) skin, and this was not changed. Ergo, Captain Fortune is not her default skin.
