Ahri or Sona?

I usually play as either an ADC like Ashe or Caitlyn or a melee champion like Shyvana. I wanted to change my playing style so I thought of playing as a mage. I wanted to know which one will suit me more. Ahri or Sona.

If you can please provide tips as well. Thanks a lot guys. Really appreciate it.

P.S. I am currently at level 14.

Can we have a 3rd option please? Both of those champs are bad, but if it HAS to be 1 or the other, Ahri is WAAAAY better off than Sona. My tip to you would be to avoid both of them.

Any reason why?

On the matter of Ahri: during season 5 she's received 6 total nerfs. Three to her damage, two to her spell ranges and even a nerf to her sustain. She already fell out of meta after the first nerf, but Rito decided she needed to be gimped again and again and again. She can't perform any role adequately; her damage is far too low to be an assassin; her range is too short and she lacks the necessary tools to be a mage.

On the matter of Sona: this is an unbelievable mess of truly legendary proportions. During pre-season 4, she received around half a dozen nerfs that pushed her out of meta in favor of Nami. Things became exponentially worse in patch 4.13 where she received upwards of over 25 known nerfs(not an exaggeration.) This comfortably placed her in the spot of worst support in the game and since then she's only received over half a dozen more nerfs, making her arguably THE weakest character in the entire game. In addition to receiving more than 40 direct nerfs just in season 4 alone, every popular item she either used or uses has been nerfed or removed from the game without ever compensating her(even though other champs received compensation.)

It's a well-known fact that Rito hates both of these champs and they've even publicly stated that they will only receive yet more nerfs, if anything is ever done to them at all. I warn you: do not become attached to either, doing so will only bring you hardship.

Sona may be very weak, but her ultimate, if landed correctly, can be game changing.

So can Nami's, Morg's, Bard's, Annie's and countless other champs' ults. Difference being? Sona's has the smallest and shortest range, longest cooldown, weakest CC and least reliability just out of those 4 mentioned right there. Sona's ult is one of the weakest CC ults in the game.

Clearly you know nothing.

Well, what's your recommendation?

Ahri. Not high level burst but solid poke damage with good finisher burst. High mobility, always helpful. Hard cc great during any point of the game. Mobility good to zip around the edge of a team fight to get to a carry. LTegame if doing well can reach actual burst damage levels

Sona is OK, but as a mage/mid she is very one dimensional. If your poke-powerchord works well you can trash lane, if not you have nothing and shitty waveclear. and always very weak to ganks. Super AP reliant and lich bane is absolutely required. Decent teamfight precence with aura's but not a ton. In teamfights outside of ult hard to contribute. Low range cant get get past frontline without instadeath, cant 100-0 anyone unless stupid fed. Fun and potentially potent but not super reliable or recommended for ranked

At least I know more than you and apparently everyone else in this thread.

So if I know zero, that means you know negative? In other words you know disinformation?

Ahri

Ahri is a decent utility mage. Her damage output is a bit below average but she has exelent mobility and cna kite very well. As a person who rarely plays mid or bot I don't play either of these champions, though I used to main Support back in s3. Ahri is a great champion if you'd like to play a Safe/Kite champion who still deals a good amount of dmg.

On the other hand Sona is a huge utility support. Tons of Heals (Shields too) Speeds up people, Poke dmg, decent cc (Slows and can stun a team) and she has interesting gameplay due to her Passive modifying how you want to play.
