So why can we only gift champions to our friends with RP?

Right now, I'm thinking about all those people who have tons of IP because they already own everything. Why can't they just be allowed to gift their friends who don't have a certain champion (Or even a rune) using the excess IP they have?

Just a thought.

Nobody has everything or a very select few have everything. The amount of hours in order to get enough IP to get everything is well ludicrous. If somebody used RP to get everything well you have money to burn so you might as well burn more.

There is a point where accounts have everything worth buying. I mean a good portion of runes are near worthless or a waste of money. After you've bought around 100 k ip or 150 k ip worth you literally have all the runes for any standard champion page. It's also not that common for people to have all champion unlocked. Many of us are just sitting here gaining ip with absolutely nothing to use it on that isn't just blindly throwing it away on something we'll probably never use or just wasting it (Name changes).

Speaking frankly the only thing that is absolutely necessary for me to spend ip on currently is a small amount every new champion release and generally I make back double that ip in the time between releases. Ip is literally useless and I'd love to be able to spend it to gift other players champions or runes. Even if there is something like a doubled ip cost to gift champions it would still be a very good feature.

As for using rp to get everything over the course of a few seasons it really isn't that unreasonable cost wise. As a example I played World of Warcraft from vanilla till the latest expansion. The game cost $15 a month for the subscription and each expansion cost me around $60. So for just about 3 years of playing it cost me 3x $60, and $540 for the subscription. So that's $720 over 3 years. If a player spent a similar amount on rp from s4 - s6 they'd have a minimum of 93,600 rp and a max of 107,760 rp. Taking advantage of sales and bundles in that time frame would give you more than enough rp to get the champions and quite a few skins. Basically it's about the same as spending two pay checks at a nearly minimum wage job. Actually a one week vacation I was planning to take in denver cost more than that even though I planned on staying in a hostel. The bus ticket was about $150, the hostel cost around $200 for a week, and food / transportation / misc costs would of been around $800 .

Because if Riot allows players to send gifts using IP, their profits margin would decrease. There are lots of people who purchase champs with RP because they don't want to wait until they raise enough IP to get them. Allowing players to give champs with IP would eliminate that income option for Riot.
