Starter Items and Build Paths

This is something that I have been kicking around for a little while now and wondered what other people thought of it. I have noticed that the support starting items that build into something and always wondered why the others didn't. Now I know there where a few starting items that came out but honestly I have never used it. So why can't Doran Shield/Blade/Ring build into something. I could understand that if it comes into a build path people may not want to buy it but I also feel that it could build into something useful and make it gold effecient. What are your guys opinions?

well .. most dorans are realy gold efficient, with the drawback, you can't use them in your build path ...

There were many discussions about that ..

If you want why support items are an exclusion .. if all lanes play correctly, the support is realy gold starved .. so they get the bonus to be able to upgrade their start item.
