The New Ranked for 2019

Im gonna start by saying i have backed Riot up a decent amount when it came to their new ideas. I've always been open to them. However, the changes they want to make to ranked make no sense to me. First is why does the season need to be seperated into splits. Especially when you rank doesnt reset. So why? I know in the update video you guys released it said it would have different effects on the boarder you got but honestly, who cares? If you are still going to do end of season rewards like you have been i dont care how different my boarder looks. I want the rewards and see where I made it at the end of the season because thats all people that play ranked want. Second, I also think having a rank for each role completely defeats the purpose of overall rank. I'm a support main so it is and will be the only position I play (for the most part). So why would I want to do ranked for these lanes I hardly ever play. They can say they want people to feel safe playing a new role in ranked. And this just might be me but you shouldnt be trying things you dont know in ranked, PERIOD. Also along with this having rank in one specific role are there even going to be a primary and secondary option when you que up? Can I be in my promos in my main role, get off roled, and then not be in my promo game? I also feel this rank per role willl actually keep people from learning more than one role. If they know they can go in and only have to play one role ever your player base will become less diverse.

I agree with a lot of what you said. I don't see the point of the splits and I don't mind one rank...but think about what is trying to be accomplished and why.

Your example of being in promos and being off roled is a good point. Which is worse? Being in your promos off role or not in your promos. There arguments for both and no matter which way it goes someone will be upset.

I also play support main so I usually get it, but I would love to play other roles and can't because I am so bad at everything else. (Jinx is actually my best champion but I and win with any other ADC and all other lanes are awful.

Normals don't work for me because you can't tell if you are improving so I like the idea of knowing my actual skill in each lane.

With regard to the splits, I don't know if it's why they did it, but it should allow for more sizeable and meaningful mid-season patches.

Rank-per-role is a huge improvement since autofill doesn't appear to be going away; all those one-tricks and one-roles that get placed in a game will at least be against people as bad at that role as them. Hey, they may rage and feed, but they won't necessarily be doing it into someone who can do much with it... Riot have also said they want to reward diversifying and punish rage-throwing games because people didn't get the role they wanted; I have no idea how they are going to do that, but it will be a huge improvement if they do it well.
