Since Darius isn't OP what are some melees that can consistently beat Darius pre 25 mins?

I expect to see a lot of people just saying Renekton.

I expect to see a lot of downvotes since he's the most popular top laner yet somehow the most banned as well.

Garen gets buttplugged by Darius and even Tryndamere has trouble against him early. He will easily outscale and dominate him in the splitpush though

if you think garen and trynda lose to darius you aren't very good at either of them.

If you see a lvl 13 stating true things you probably figure out that It is a smurf or wasn't your brain enough competent to think about It. Like you see that your argument is not valid and instead of accepting what other people tell you, you complain about their lvl. Truly Dissapointing.

Nice 38% win rate in silver 5 lad.

And why would I accept what other people tell me if it isn't substantiated with anything? All he said is I must not be good at the champions. No other qualifying statement.

And don't insult people's intelligence when you can only barely speak the language being spoken here bucko.

Disappointing has one "s" and two "p's" for example.

Stay mad my friend.

You see I am only lvl 48, right? Seems like you don't learn. Deduce, use your brain. (Idk if you take things like these asan offense, I don't so I don't mind.

Well as you notice before (you tried to correct my english which I don't really mind because Its not my first language) I don't mainly play in NA, that is just one more of my smurfs accounts where I try different or new champions build in rankeds 'cause I don't mind my WR if it is not my main account. I use my smurfs as a way of trying new builds and strategies for learning not to climb or get an high WR lol.

I have enough with having to play serious in my main account to climb, so I am not allowed to have fun in my smurfs accounts? That's new.

A lot of useless words that don't do anything to explain why I should have paid any heed to the little boy who responded to me. I accept your concession bud.

Both lose to Darius when all 3 are balanced. Garen and Tryn have overtuned numbers now, it's a different story.

TempName548461 votes

garen is strong right now but not really due to overtuned numbers, more of due to the fact the meta is bursty and 60% damage reduction is pretty good against burst and he can go triforce over black cleaver since everyones building damage.

trynda overtuned? i mean his an annoying little shit but his not overtuned at all right now lmao

Not quite.

Garen loses to Darius until the level 6-9 range, depending. The key is that Garen past that point will lose trades, but win the war. Trade > escape > regen > trade >escape > regen. The fact that Garen's R doesn't have a stack requirement means that after two 'lost' trades, Garen can just go in for an easy kill. He'll be behind on CS early on, but catch up pretty quickly so long as he doesn't feed hard.

Trynd is similar. He gets unbeatable for Darius, and split pushes WAY harder than he does.

How does Jax beat Darius?

Thefrostyviking2 votes

He doesnt really, not against a good one.

The thing is that to win that fight jax needs to have the chance to fight Darius while blocking autos with his E but Darius can deny that, his pull will cause a great deal of time to be wasted of Jax´s E.

His slow makes it impossible for jax to really stay on him without the Q and in a straight fight Darius wins that early because Jax is weaker earlier on.

Jax´s win conditions are too simple and easily outplayable for Darius who has the needed tools.

Its only when Jax´s Q CD goes down to being low enough that he can just near spamjump on Darius and deny outer Q´s/healing/damage from Darius while doing damage that he starts winning.

But that needs both lvls and cdr.

renekton is a skill match up.

darius is good vs nearly all melees, the key vs darius is not to fight in extended fights, and to stack hp over armor, with his passive plus armor % passive on E and ult stacking armor early dont help. but HP does.

darius is a high damage dealing juggernaut. if he gets to you he will hurt you.

quinn, kennen, teemo all good vs him but that is with nearly all juggernauts, ranged/kiting beats them

"He is slow" This is the blatant lie about Darius that upsets me most. Between BC, Deadman's, and the option to run Phase Rush and Ghost, Darius consistently has some of the highest movespeed in the game, and a 550 range on his hook. You can't kite him, only run away to be caught anyway.

Yes you can cc him. I didn't say you couldn't. No he's not unbeatable, I didn't say he was.

You can't, however, kite him. Kiting means stopping between running to throw damage backwards. Fighting and running away at the same time. But a Darius with his core items has 100 more ms than you. You can't kite, only cc and run. I was contesting the lie that "Darius is slow." He isn't.

Well Yorick has a low pickrate in general so that stat might not be accurate unless you have personal experience in the matchup

BeatzBoyFTW12 votes

Most of Yorick's skills & damage involves having the ghouls being spat directly at Darius's face where he would be busy killing them off instead of Yorick himself. Now combined with Yorick's Maiden, Darius would definitely be having a hard time moving around his position to land his outer Q, especially when adding the part where he would be hindered by his walls too. I'm speaking this from an experience as a M7 Darius, where I actually had a hard time laning against a good Yorick.

Yorick's unpopular simply because no one likes:

  • a champion who has no teamfight capability & a plain split-pusher.
  • a champion who doesn't have flashy moves like Yasuo or Zed.
  • a champion where, if proplays doesn't play him, then Yorick shouldn't be played.

As a M7 Darius do you think he autowins against melee champions at least until pre6 and still beats most post lvl 6?

I won't say all. He definitely destroys most static & bland top laners like Sion Shen Maokai since he's able to outdamage all & being able to sustain well by easily hitting his outer Q, except for some exceptions below:

Darius is highly vulnerable to "hit-&-run" burst pokes, where enemies would jump in for some quick burst & has the capability to swiftly get out of the fight. His one point of being dominating top lane is if he were to engage in long fights where his 5 bleeds would stack up to give him that advantage, and that strat puts him off.

Good examples would be Riven FioraCamille , as this is highly a skill-match up. All of them has the capability to poke-burst him off & runs back, or having the stickiness to cling onto Darius in order to avoid getting hit by his outer Q.

Other examples like Aatrox is an ideal pick against him since Aatrox can just fully utilize his ranged Q for some good pokes. Even if he were to get pulled, he can simply W to slow him down & runs back with his E and adds a bit of his Q to the mix.

Illaoi is also close to being called a "skill-match up". The best advice for a Darius player is just dodge her E. But if you were to get caught by one, you'd either choose to just force yourself to go in for the trade while being smashed by Illaoi's mixed QW damage & minion aggro, or choose to run out of range & gets hit by the annoyance of constant spawning tentacles. Do know that most Illaoi players maxes E first, so getting one or two hits on your teared Soul can seriously hurts.

Riven needs to be WAAAAAAAY higher skill than the Darius since he can just cancel her dashing away with an e pull. I'm talking like bronze vs Gold difference If Darius forces Riven to blow even 1 Q before getting to him Riven won't have the mobility to escape when he slows her twice and stuns her. At least until she builds CDR but it should still be easy as she's very squishy with low regen. Fiora needs to somehow parrry W be much higher skill and have good RNG on passive Camille gets outright bullied in lane? I though Darius was a counterpick since Camille is a weak laner Illaoi 's e is on a VERY long cooldown, also Darius can just fight her through the minion wave its not like any of his abilities can be creepblocked

Riven can simply E-W-AA-Q away for those short burst. Normally Darius wouldn't have the time & moment to be able to pull her in time.

Fiora can be really sticky with her Q & the movement speed it grants, especially when considering the part that her Q can damage at quite a far range. Pre-6, she just needs to focus her parry on your W. Post-6, your ult, and that's worse.

Camille Depends. I do get an average games where Camille manages to out-bully me, since most of her damages involves sticking to my face to deal damage with her Q & has the mobility to get out of fights. Secondly, her passive shields can deny some damage when she comes in for the poke.

Illaoi Not saying that she's an actual big deal, but that it can probably take 1 E to make her being such a nuisance to Darius. Also, poking Illaoi means you're unintentionally pushing the waves to her, which is actually really bad.

Riven I've played Riven vs Darius and they just spam pull while stunned so that it happens immediately when he is unstunned and he could kill the Riven in one rotation if she fommits for some reason. Even if she runs she-'ll ve bear dead, like 20% health

I don't understand how Camille can bully a Darius if you're able to bait out her shield and disengage its on a high cooldown so she won't have a passive for a while. Even with the shield up you should still win the trade. If she E's to a wall near you can't you just e her out of it? Also I may be wrong but can you pull Camille mid dash to cancel it if you can she should be screwed.

Fiora expects you to w after your friest auto so just start off with W and her parrying e won't mean much not like she'll even come close to outdamaging you

Automated Riven3 votes

Riven has to be very good to beat Darius. I prefer using q to gapclose rather then e. Because you dodge his q with your q and then aa q aa ewq out. Making sure to use w at the very beginning of your e so you stun him during the e animation. And you are far out of range when he tries to w you.

Actually you ignored my statistics thst Darius the most popular top laner by far which would skew your point, especially against low pickrate champions like yorick. I recognize that Darius is his most commmon matchup and aexplained why it isn't due to counterpicking for the most part

redniwediS5 votes

Read it again mate, he didn't ignore your numbers at all. What he did was point to more applicable numbers that invalidate what you're saying.

Yorick has a low pick rate overall. Darius has a high pick rate overall. The champion that is picked most often against Darius is Yorick.

All three of these statements are true, and all support the idea that Yorick is the current best counterpick to Darius. Yorick isn't seeing significant levels of play against anyone else, he is almost purely being used as a counterpick to Darius.

DrCyanide8 votes

Yorick has sustain on his Q and a bit of ranged harass with his minions. His ult also makes it a 2v1, while his cage can allow him to reposition away from Darius.

Yorick can't just run straight at Darius, but he does have the tools to manage him.

"Yorick has sustain on his Q" This is how I know you don't play Yorick. The sustain is nonfactor until lvl 6 and even than until you get spirit visage the sustain from Q isn't that good. Unless you give up an insane amount of cs and exp you will die to Darius 100% and even if you don't die you'll be too behind in gold/exp to fight him

DrCyanide8 votes

The sustain still helps counter the bleed. It heals you more than 1 stack of bleed damages you from level 2 onward. You're not losing the HP that other champions lose against Darius, and you have the disengage cage.

Yoricks sustain is ridiculously low early game, I'm talking like below 20 health sustain. That doesn't take off nearly enough to counter bleed
