How bans Should work: Maokai Top laner : Oh, I want to play a tank top lane. Better ban trundle so he doesn't counter me.

TwistedFate Mid laner: I want to play tf mid, better ban fizz so that he doesn't counter me.

Lucian Bot laner : Hmm there's no one I want to particularly ban. But we have no hard cc and a squishy team comp. Better ban kat! (theese are 3 diffrent champ selects to clarify)

**How bans work right now: ** Trundle top laner: WHO'S OP? EKKO IS OP? K I BAN EKKO!

Fizz Mid laner: PLZ PLZ BAN MALZ I DONT WANT TO PLAY AGAINST HIM. PLZ OMG

Caitlyn Bot laner: GUYS ZED IS OP. QSS DOESN'T WORK IM GONA BAN HIMMM

My point is, this phenomenon used to be very rare. In season 3 the only "have to ban" champ was kassa for obvious reasons, the rest of the bans were based on counter picks. Season 4 had a few outliers after reworks, but riot quickly assessed them and took care of them. I din't play for most of season 5 Season 6: there are always 4-5 champs that are pick or ban, and once riot nerfs them more pop up. It's an issue with the games state right now. and it needs to be adressed.

That last issue isn't something that is new. It is literally the reason Riot has kept it to 6 bans, because if people continually ban the same champions they always consider OP, then the next crop of community-supposed OP champions rises to the top, without anything actually changing with them.

I agree. But there is a difference between "community op champs" Ex. Fizz, and champs that are actually op ex. Tank ekko popping up after a very very minor buff. There are champs that are actually very op popping up left and right because of our current meta. If something is even slightly better, it is significantly better. If riot takes care of one group another pops up, yes. But the new one that pops up feels as strong as before. Because right now the game is won by what champions you are picking doesn't matter if you countered your enemy or outplayed him in lane or w/e.

This can be supported by insanly high winrates poping up on a lot of champions this patch, while last season there were only a handfull. ex. Mundo pre nerf ex. Nautilous with a close to 56% ex, Tank ekko hittin g 57% ex. AP udyr hitting a 55% winrate. ex. Kog'maw hitting a 56% winrate. theres more to list.. but you get it

After the current op champs get nerfed more will pop up, have a 55%+ winrate and get nerfed. This cylcle isnt gona end untill riot takes action and fixes the current state of the game.

The zed ban is must!

Not, if you want to play him.

Then you trade with your team's first pick and auto-win the lane.

You do realize humans, taken as a unit are dumb right? Your expecting forethought and understanding of mechanics most people don't think about. You want not dumb team mates? Form a 5 man team and que up with them.

Its not about dumb or smart. Its about the games current balance. In the 2nd scenario, where people are banning champs based on who's op, are not wrong. Because if the enemy gets those champs then the game is usually lost in champ select. My point is the game should NOT be like this. The game should be in a state where instead of worrying about banning whats op, people have to worry about banning what counter picks them.

I played every Season barring the 5th, and your first example has never been how the standard banning phase went down in non-organized matches, the LoL community has always gone with using general bans rather than counter bans.
