Something I Don't Understand - Armor/Gear/Weight

To me, one particular topic always sat in my head while playing League of legends: Armor. In League of Legends, like in many other games, wearing armor improves your defensive stats. Provides you with a thick layer of defensive gear and protects you from damage. However, there is one huge issue with this: Mobility.

There are different types of Gear that suits different classes: Assassins wear less and thus are more agile but vulnurable; Mages wear light gear and prioritize their abilities with light trinkets but leave themselves open to damage; Tanks wear extremely heavy gear in order to protect themselves by soaking MORE. Now, what I don't understand is that EVERYONE in League of Legends can wear ANYTHING and still have increased mobility.

Let's Bring our Buddy Udyr onto the Field. His build looks like this item 3009 item 3512 item 3060 item 3025 item 3742 item 3065. He is heavy. Very Heavy. At this point this Spiritual Man gains an INSANE amount of resistances AND MOBILITY. So let me get this straight, on average, a full suit of armor back in Medieval era weigh around 15kg-35kg (33-78lb).

  • So let's say, ZZ'Rot when put onto the ground is Huge, but has to be carried somewhere, let's give it 8kg.
  • Iceborn Guantlet - a freezing but not that difficult to carry would be around 3kg.
  • Dead Man's Plate - about the same 4kg.
  • Banner - round it up another 8kg.
  • And our Spirit gear - easily 10kg.

Minus the boots (A man has to have his sneakers on) we are looking at extra 33kg (73lb) of armor and NO MOBILITY Punishment.

I understand these are FIT and STRONG Men and Women, but holy sh*t, wearing extra 33kg on your body is exhausting. I have and it's not an easy task.

The problem I find is that we have Mages and Assasins wearing 10kg of gear should be more agile, Correct? Tanks wearing 30kg+ of gear should feel the pressure of their heavy build and be less flexible/agile, Correct? However, League of Legends doesn't think it to be true. While our Mages and Assasins will run at mere 417-430 MS, our Tanks will run at 450-557 MS (+ 25% slow resistance item 3009). WHAT?!

What I suggest is to include a Punishment System for Providing yourself with heavier choices. Maybe include -5% To every piece of heavy gear you wear? This way our ADCs/Mages will be able to kite a few hits, While Tanks will actually have to TRY to get to you, instead of bluntly running up to you and CC Locking your butthole.

Consider this. Even if you buy armor items, those items don't appear on your champion. This is because they aren't literally buying the artifact, but rather the magical properties of that artifact.

The idea is kind of a relic left over from the old lore, but Garen would never be spinning an Infinity Edge around himself. It would be his normal sword. Just like how Anivia never actually puts on a Rabadon's Deathcap or a Liandry's Torment, and Braum never actually replaces his shield with a Randuin's Omen.

So it isn't that they're buying and carrying a Sunfire Cape. They are simply buying temporary copies the Armor, Health, and Fire enchantments distilled from it by League mages. How else could more than one champion have a Zhonya's Hourglass or Infinity Edge at the same time? Those are legendary artifacts, and only one of each exist in the world.

Again, it's a relic from the old lore, but that is the explanation for it.

Fulfilling their primary role is honestly more important than making sense. If bruisers got kited all game, they wouldn't be able to do their jobs and would feel incredibly frustrated.

Ok, Good point. However,

Bruiser/Fighter, and from the list, 90% OF them have a speed buff built into their Kit Or some sort of engage/gap closer.

As a gigantic PnP fan I love the idea of encumberance. This would prevent the problem of the "tanky assassin"(I'm looking at you, Ekko), and really add another layer to the game. It would also help even out the current perceived problem with the "Mobility Meta".
