I get outplayed by Lux

Caítlyn··4 votes·766 views

I get outplayed by Lissandra I get outplayed by Brand I get outplayed by Cassiopeia I get outplayed by Orianna I get outplayed by Syndra I get outplayed by Velkoz

I failed to properly dodge their skillshots and combos, and I took the punishment. I was outplayed.

You know who I never get outplayed by? Jax Nocturne Pantheon Volibear MonkeyKing Yasuo Zed Rengar Trundle (and many others)

Does this mean I beat them every time? Of course not. It means they used their point and click gap closer on me and spammed and I died. Or in the case of Volibear Trundle Rammus among others, they run at me while ignoring all threats because they are invincible tanks and kill me.

TL;DR Whenever I die to Lux or other mages, I know the other player beat me with skill. They landed the skillshots, they landed the combo. If I die to them, Im still satisfied because I know I got outplayed.

Whenever I die to Hecarim or some other melee with a point and click gap closer, it feels like total bullshit. Because its unavoidable. I wasnt "outplayed".

Commence your downvotes.

I get outplayed by Lissandra pressing R on me.

I get outplayed by Syndra pressing R on me.

I get outplayed by Caitlyn rightclicking me from 650 range.

I am a horrible adc main who plays the easiest and strongest class in the game and can't deal with melee champs lmfao.

Tl;dr: "I'm too shit to hit skillshots or CC on the melee characters running right at me"

Lux failed to move the fuck away after using Q-E combo! Shit Lux got jumped on and died despite having a shield!

Shit Lux probably should have not gotten greedy for that auto proc.

Lux has 380 ms. Jax has 450 ms.

Lux fault she didnt run away.

20, actually. Jax has 350, Lux has 330.

Verxint4 votes

Okay. A Lux snares a Jax at 1000 units away (not even max range). To make this simpler, they both have teir 2 boots and no movespeed items. If one of them invests gold into movespeed and the other doesn't, then the one who invested gold deserves to be faster.

This puts Lux at 380 MS and Jax at 400 ms. That's 20 movespeed difference Jax can leap at 700 units. So he has 300 to traverse. Thats 15 seconds to catch up. Lux's Q has a 15 second cooldown at rank 1.

BUT WAIT! THERES MORE

Lux has an AoE slow with a 350 unit radius. Assuming she puts it on top of Jax and pops at the last possible second, Jax has to spend about 1.25 seconds in the slow. During this time, Lux actually gains distance from Jax.

So once Jax leaves the slow, Lux is actually FURTHER away than when the snare timed out on Jax. She is now 1125 units from him. Jax has to make it 425 units in order to get into leap range. This takes over 20 seconds to do. Lux can get an entire other spell rotation off in that time, resetting the entire situation and preventing Jax from ever getting in range to use his Q.

It is Lux's fault if she couldn't run away.

i think the point was that if lux tries to kill him with her combo it isn't going to work and she is going to get shit on.

obviously a lux needs to know WHEN her combo is going to kill someone and WHEN it isn't. and shouldnt be tryign to 1v1 jax like that if he doesn't have a huge lead and the damage to do it.

but it was still funny.. and the OP is correct. even the champs she listed DID win because they "outplayed" you. its only because YOU made a mistake. the majority of the time they just flat out kill you and there really isn't jack shit you can do about it no matter how good you are

ill start with the most extreme example

Rengar sure you can kill him early game.. but after he is lvl 18 if he is at full items.. and your a squishy champ... it doesn't MATTER how good you are. he ulti's you and you litterally die un less than a quarter a a second. the human reaction time to visual stimuli is .25 seconds.

you quite literally CANT react in time if you a human and have NORMAL human reaction times

granted the other champs on the list arn't INSTANT kills like Rengar is.. but the effect is the same. you CANT stop them

your not goign to kiteVolibear after he reaches melee range and your not goign to kill him before his bit kills you

every champ on the list is slightly different, but in essence they do the same thing.. they don't win by being BETTER than you.. they win by them frankly having stuff at at a certain point you really cant stop them REGARDLESS of what you do. yes they usally need to have a certain amount of gold to reach that point. but they dont need to kill YOU to do that. they can get gold from killing your teammtes, from the game just goibg on for a long time, form jungle or CSing, they can get clould drake that makes them unkitable.

they are champ that in if you are of equal skill lvl.. and equal gold. your are GOING to lose. you NEED to have a gold lead or you NEED to be MUCH better than them.

if your are fighting a silver 2 Zed, unless you on a champ that HARDCOUNTERS ZED. you are NOT going to beat him if YOU only play at a silver 2 level. you need to be MUCH better than him to win.

Verxint4 votes

Rengar is pretty extreme, I will admit, but unless he's insanely fed he doesn't kill you faster than you can react. What DOES happen is the stupid exclamation mark sometimes doesn't show up, or, I've seen smart Rengar's do this, Rengar goes up to melee you in his ultimate so that you don't get his travel time to react.

Even though he does kill quickly, squishies can summoner 4 item 3157 to defend themselves, among other options. Rengar also has a much harder time killing a team that is grouped up and paying attention because there are a lot of CC's that can hit him before his combo finishes.

Volibear literally has to run up at you, he doesn't get to dash. He should be near inescapable if he actually gets up to you. Why did you let Volibear walk 600 units towards you for free?

they are champ that in if you are of equal skill lvl.. and equal gold. your are GOING to lose. you NEED to have a gold lead or you NEED to be MUCH better than them.

This is just outright false. I've seen hundreds of situations where a carry with good positioning kited out a Volibear or something like him, with equal gold. It all comes down to positioning and spacing.

if your are fighting a silver 2 , unless you on a champ that HARDCOUNTERS ZED. you are NOT going to beat him if YOU only play at a silver 2 level. you need to be MUCH better than him to win.

It's this kind of attitude that gives people problem with Zed. They give up before the game even starts and just assume he's totally unpunishable. A Silver 2 Zed is going to make mistakes that another Silver 2 player can easily capitalize on.

Also, you guys in this thread keep comparing very asymmetric kits. Lux, Lissandra, Orianna are not duelists, they're control mages. Their specialty is skirmishes and teamfights.

Zed Rengar are assassins. Their entire job is to try to kill a target quickly and possibly escape. They're designed so they either have to hit a specific combo or catch people out of position in order to get kills with even gold.

Jax is a duelist, in fact, hes the god damn champ. Very few champions will ever be able to 1v1 him without a gold lead, and he can often win 1v1's while behind in gold. In exchange for this, he has almost no AoE damage and has to go full melee mode to do anything useful. He is also dependent on item scaling to be effective later in the game.

You guys seem to think that "balance" means everyone can always fight everyone else. That's not the case. Sometimes, your mistake was already made by the time the enemy appears on your screen. You were positioned poorly, or didnt have backup, or didn't use one of your resources to survive properly.

If you honestly feel like there is actually nothing, literally nothing you could ever do to stop bruisers and fighters, you're just making a lot of mistakes that you aren't aware of. If these champions were really so unstoppable at equal skill level, why don't they dominate competitive play?

It means they used their point and click gap closer on me and spammed and I died.

This is just not true. It's hyperbole. For example

These ranged mages didnt outplay me. They just spammed their skillshots from 1200 range every 8 seconds until they got lucky and then slammed their face on the keyboard for a kill

This is just as untrue as the idea that fighers just mindlessly run at opponents who have absolutley no options to fight back.

Thank god the forums have a voice of reason. Have an upvote.

It's the inverse of the "lol 1v1 me scrub" mentality. For those people, not being able to duel their melee duelist champion means you're terrible at the game, for the people in this thread, a melee duelist being able to, gasp, duel them means that the duelist has no outplay ability and just spammed buttons.

How does Hecarim have a point and click ult? Is it because it's a skill shot that you have to click (aka all skill shots) cuz that doesn't count.

Caítlyn1 votes

He presses E and runs at you.

Dodge it.

Chamuel852 votes

Prevent him from AAing you? That's not really point and click when it's an empowered auto attack. I mean by that definition everyone is point and click because everyone can AA.

For instance, dodge Xerath/Lux/Braum/Lucian passive or Udyr Bear slap! YOU CAN'T!

Caítlyn2 votes

You see that Jinx over there? She wants to kill me. I can easily walk away.

i have been outplayed by Yasuo every so often when they do really creative minion dashes or dash from raptors on me when i knew they were missing but didn't know where, so i decided to push their turret. And i have been outplayed by an EPICLY placed and timed pillar byTrundle when i played Blitzcrank and he used it to stop my pull on my adc by casting it in front of him

but everyone on your list is pretty much dead on... and most of the time Yasuo andTrundle don't beat me because of outplays either.. they just win because they are well... what they are.

i would also add Leblanc and Shaco to that list of champs that don't "outplay" you and add Ahri to the list of champs that DO outplay you

Caítlyn1 votes

It is possible to be outplayed by them...very rarely. 99% of the time its simply them running/dashing at you and beating you down with superior tankiness and damage and cc.

Not meant to be a comprehensive list. I originally had Leblanc on the list but felt like she was controversial. Personally I feel like Leblanc and Shaco do outplay you, but I may be biased because I play those. Ahri does outplay you, but to a lesser extent because she has a lot of mobility.

Verxint3 votes

Lissandra has literally one skillshot and calling it a "skillshot" is pretty weak Lux has some of the most forgiving hitboxes in the game, and is always too far away to actually punish if she misses

Jax can outplay by dodging on-hit effects with his E or by jumping to dodge things. Nocturne can outplay by using his vision effect tactically, using his spellshield to prevent counterattacks, using wards to find ult targets and confirm they're alone Pantheon can outplay by managing his passive to block clutch autoattacks and even on hit effects. He can outplay by landing good strategic ultimates to disrupt the enemy team Volibear can outplay by interrupting things with flip, clutch flash-engages and passive baits MonkeyKing can outplay with stop-jukes and clone jukes Yasuo is literally a champion who has to outplay you to get anything done. Granted, he has a ton of tools in his kit to block your damage, dodge your spells, and disrupt your attempts to retaliate. But his dependence on those tools means he gets destroyed when he makes a mistake Zed is the same thing as Yasuo. Seriously go into a game as Zed and "use your point and click gap closer until they die". See if it works. Rengar can outplay by using clutch heals and using his ultimate to negate jukes or spot counterattack. Trundle can outplay by using his pillar to pin people into walls, interrupt them, or baiting with his ultimate

Some champions have more outplay potential than others. But champions that work off numbers need to be in the game to keep people like Yasuo and Zed in check. You also seem to think the only outplay that can exist is clutch ability use. If I ward your buff because I see my top laner is winning and yours wont be able to come fight, and you start it, and I catch you, I outplayed you. I might have been playing Rek'Sai and there wasn't any outplay in the actual fight, because the outplay was strategic

If a Lux stood under her tower missing 90% of her snares but kills you when she finally hits one, did she really outplay you? Not every outplay is flashy and montage material. Not every outplay happens in a specific moment. Not every outplay involves skillshots and dodging.

Now, your response is probably going to be something along the lines of "those outplays don't count because I don't personally think those champions are hard"

So first thing: ANY fed champion removes skill from the equation. if you get run over by a 7/0 Hecarim, that's nothing to do with the champ. He has 7 kills. he should be able to kill you if he reaches you. How would you feel if you were a 7/0 Orianna and you landed all your spells on someone and they didn't either die or have to flash/heal/barrier to safety?

If someone manages to kill you, they did something smarter than you. There is no champion in the game that can brainlessly smash targetted buttons for free kills with absolutely zero chance of the opponent surviving from the beginning on the game.

Now I await your hyperbole-filled response about how only what you personally consider to be skill is skill, and anything else isn't.

if you die you been outplayed regardless of skill shot or not. the point of the game is to not die, while killing your opponent. so unless ur trolling and dieing on purpose, your getting outplayed everytime you die.
