[Speculation] Rune Paths and their intended role.
So, we know the Runes Reforged will be divided into 5 Paths. We know the names of these Paths will be: Domination, Inspiration, Precision, Sorcery and Resolve. (source)
We also know that "Domination" is about "stalking prey and taking out targets quickly" and "geared towards snowballing a lead by hunting down and taking out priority targets with a burst of damage". And "Sorcery serves champions who want to enhance ability-based damage, especially AoE spells. Our motto for it is “unleash destruction”." As for Inspiration, it's "indirect power and rule twisting".
So, what do you think all the different paths will be about?
- Domination: stalking, roaming, ganking, burst and snowballing. Basically the Assassins/Junglers path. Burst Mages may opt into it too.
- Sorcery: spell-casting, AoE damage, and I guess we'll also see Mana interaction in there. CDR may or may not be here, we've seen one CDR Runes confirmed in Inspiration, and the Path of the other one wasn't indicated, so maybe it's here. That's the Mage path, especially for Battle Mages, but some Enchanters may opt-in, too.
- Precision: auto-attacking, consistent DPS, late game scaling (as opposed to the "snowballing" in Domination). Clearly the path for ADC, but possibly also for Juggernauts and Skirmishers.
- Resolve: This one is easy. It's the defense Path, it's exactly the same name as the current defense Tree. We'll get HP, Resistances, etc. The path for Tanks, but I've got a hunch that a LOT of champions will take this as secondary. We'll see.
- Inspiration: this is the hard one, the few elements we have are very vague. It seems focused on general utility, with very ground-breaking effects, but not targeted toward anyone especially. Free boots, Store Credit, infinite health stacking, huge stat boost but decrease damage, it's very varied.
It's important to note that pretty much any Path can be interesting as a Secondary for any Champ. Supports could take Domination for the Vision tools, Divers or Assassins may opt into Resolve to be able to survive in Melee Range, etc.
So, what do y'all think? Any juicy clue that I missed?
