My Thoughts on Point / Click VS Skillshots
I personally believe many of the games current "Point / Click" Abilities should be looked at as being changed to "Skillshots." In the following examples you will see examples of abilities I feel should or should not be changed, and a short reasoning as to why.
I would appreciate all input you as the community have, and I would hope many of you, like myself would like to see changes like these made.
Example 1
Pantheons Q
- Reasoning - high damage output, his combo already has 1 point and click leap that stuns guaranteed, and his E is always a follow up with high damage. By making the Q a skill shot ( even if it passes through minions like jhins W ) It adds dynamic gameplay to an otherwise 1 dimensional champ
Example 2
Leblanc Q
- Reasoning - As a high speed projectile, it would be much easier to land than most skill shots currently are. With its high burst damage output, there needs to be more than stagnant high burst, always hitting spells, that can be combo'd into what feels just so crappy to play against, and boring to play with
Example 3
Vayne E
- Reasoning - As the complete HP shredding ADC, with high mobility, high burst, and her power to shred, her only current mechanic that feels even enjoyable is properly using your Q to out maneuver your enemy. In conjunction with her ult, she can become an unstoppable force with a click and shoot E, that can take someone completely out of the game if they hit a wall. That portion of it is fine, but pushing it to a skill shot ( again maybe make it be like jhins W where it passes through minions but stops on the first champion hit ) would make this champion require much more skill to MASTER, while still being enjoyable to a casual. Setups would take more effort, and peeling would still be as simple if someone is chasing.
Example 4
** Teemo Q** -Reasoning - As he currently stands, teemo outside of proplay is one of the most hated champions... why? Because he has become a more or less right click and win champion. His kit allows him great defenses without the need for wards, and his 1v1 gameplay is already good if you properly kite. But his Q being a point and click in season 6 feels completely, and i mean COMPLETELY un-satisfying. You can destroy any AA based champion by pressing Q while hovering over them... thats not enjoyable "counter play" by any standard. By pushing Q to a skill shot, teemo players would be forced into a newer style of play where again, he would still be enjoyable to play AS, but also be less "toxic" to play AGAINST.
EXAMPLES OF SKILLS THAT SHOULD STAY POINT AND CLICK AND NOT BE SKILL SHOTS
Example 1
Nunu E
- Reasoning - Nunu is a champion with 1 ability. His utility is very direct, he is in a state where he is enjoyable to play as, and while his sustain can feel high at times, he is still enjoyable to play against. If his E was moved to a skillshot, nunu would become one of the least played champions in league because his ult is already hard enough for many players to properly use, and feel rewarded. He is 1 example of a champion who needs a point and click in his current kit
Ryze W
- Reasoning - Ryze has always been known for his rune prison shut downs at crucial moments. Yes he is a strong pick, but a CC like that as a skillshot would just be another morgana Q. He feels gratifying to land good combos with now, and his prison feels like its in a good enough spot where keeping it as a point and click still makes it enjoyable to play against, and to play as
Shaco E
- Reasoning - Shaco has a hard fall off as the game goes on and on to less experienced players. His E as a skillshot would make the ability useless to his kit, and become less of an engage tool, and more of a disengage tool which would ruin the fluidity of his current kit. Hes strong enough early to be a pain, but weak enough late game that his E is never considered OP by most players.
Taking some abilities and moving them to skill shots would make the game feel much more satisfying to play as certain champions, and it would make playing against these champions so much less toxic feeling than they currently do. Some of these kits are out dated remnants of older seasons of league that dont really fit the "rewarding plays" system that they do now.
Skillshots offer a player a sense of accomplishment, and it offers the enemy who dies a sense of "hey maybe i made a mistake" instead of getting 100-0'ed from inescapable combos.
It would make even extremely fed players still need to land those crucial skill shots to destroy weaker enemies, which again would go a long way in making the game more enjoyable.
I look forward to your responses.
