Everyone is tired of playing with a devourer / guinsoos yi on their team
Everyone is tired of playing against a devourer / guinsoos yi
Even playing as yi isnt satisfying at all unless you are a child who likes free wins with minimal effort
I used Master Yi to get from Bronze 4 to Silver 3 so far this season. And i plan to use him to get through Gold also. Lower elo requires minimal mechanics, and high situational awareness. But choosing a champ with little mechanics, you can expound on your situational mechanics and overtake your opponents who are trying to play more complex champions, who require more mechanical skills to play effectively.
To put it simple, he absolutely wrecks low elo players.
But do not get me wrong - Yi is good in Diamond level if played correctly. He can dodge any ability in the game, channel to reduce incoming damage by 50% or more - he has much usefulness. And he is incredibly easily countered. However, players in lower elo do not know how to deal with Yi. A full build Yi vs full build Vayne..... The Yi buys red trinket...... Alpha+1 auto kills Vayne.. Before she can even react. OP huh?
I was Heimer top the other day and there was a fed Yi on the enemy team. He Ulted at me and Alpha Striked when he got into range. Makes sense right? WRONG. Rediculous idea. I dropped a stun grenade on him and timed so he did not have time to get a single auto off on me. Ulted my hextech rockets and blew him to pieces. After that, he learned not to try and 1v1 me... We ended up winning that game...
Saying 'Yi is freelo' is a troll term, and not a serious term that anyone should use when actually discussing if Yi is overpowered or not. Yi can be absolutely shut down in a team fight if anyone has enough common knowledge of the game to know how to deal with him. However, he does require minimal mechanics- AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.. League needs champs with low mechanics, and champs with high mechanics. You don't expect newbies to be performing insec-kicks or Bouncing shadow-to-shadow do you?
Yi is fine. He is not over-nor under-powered. Simply put, he needs the damage output he has to excel in team fights, because if anyone understands that a single decent stun can demolish him..... He is done for.
