Seriously, can we just stop with these threads? It happens literally every year, and it's almost always people who either climb back hilariously quickly or clearly didn't deserve their rank in the first place.

Also remember that your win/loss isn't necessarily meaningful. If you won 8 games against the literal worst player ever and then lost two games against silver players, then you're probably going to end up in bronze.

I've been in bronze, worked up to silver, and then been placed in bronze again.

Your MMR was worse than shit if you went 8-2 and got placed Bronze. You should have no problem skyrocketing to Gold if that was your real MMR and you weren't boosted.

Whole system needs a rework. More placement matches etc... WoW always did a complete reset pvp season to pvp season. The issue is with the brackets, it should only be MMR driven, ggwp.

Everyone seems to think that a full mmr reset would benefit them in some way. It wouldn't. The reason they don't do one is mostly so that there aren't two weeks of plat and diamond players roflstomping bronzies.

Yeah, but one of them means that you have to play a few games against slightly worse players, and one means that a bunch of newer players get placed in completely unwinnable games.

except right now there are challengers and masters playing with actual season 5 plat and diamond 5 players. the system is completely broken right now. once i hit plat 1 on my smurf im stopping because id rather not play with challengers to prove im worthy of diamond.

there is a difference between a soft reset and a hard reset you know? soft resets shouldn't drop your rank by that much, 2~3 divisions at most not up to 2 whole tiers that's what a hard reset would do. Riot said they would do a soft reset but looking at these threads it seems more like they did a hard reset instead

i have seen pro players who were in challenger drop all the way down to plat. That is not "having low MMR" that is Riot telling us lies about them doing a soft reset when in reality they did a hard reset

A hard reset would set everyone to the same mmr no matter what their mmr last season was. Anything less than that is a soft reset of varying degree.

The placements don't matter this season. They go more based off last season's MMR.

I think I have to agree.. If you belong somewhere, you will get there. If you win 10/10 and placing in B5, your MMR must have just been that low. If one claims they don't belong there well, then they can easily climb out.

I worked my butt off getting to Plat form Gold (a nonstop 5 months, about 6 hours a day). Then I played for about a month in plat and then stopped because I was satisfied with my rank... I experienced decay and dropped to Gold 4. I wanted my border reward so badly that I decided to play again. In just 2 weeks I was back in Plat. Which confirmed to me that this is where I belonged now. If I didn't I probably wouldn't have made the climb to G1 and be successful in series again.

Was Silver II last season. Ended up Bronze II ... which i'm happy with.

Means I dropped a division but that was going to happen even if I had a perfect 10 out of 10 games. Time to climb out. Wish me luck, i'm aiming for Gold man. Aiming. For. The. Gold.

I know that a lot of these threads seem like mindless complaining, but I was plat III and I had placement match of 7-3, but I was placed in gold IV, thats a tier and division lower. A lot of people are getting whole tiers lower and thats the problem.

Yeah this season is jacked. I was silvr 2 when S5 ended. I won 8/10 placements, my last 2 games were 9/2/2 and 18/5/5 I got placed in silver 5

Last season when i did placements I got 7/10 wins, and was placed in silver 3.....

What I forgot to mention was that it was my first season ever playing ranked, so I had no prior history to have landed in Silver in the first place, let alone landing in Silver from losing a majority of the promos.

Wish people would understand that there is a reset and your current rank doesn't mean much at all. Like I was gold 5 dropped to silver 5 and everyone I play with is between silver 4 and bronze 1 and almost all of them are ex gold players... with some silver 1s or 2s. Current rank says silver 5... but really its more around gold 5 and everyone you are playing is around that elo. Ranks only start to matter once players have played 50 + games or something like that, so just give it a couple of months.

Mocking someone's complaint doesn't in any way minimize it's truthfulness. 8/2, ended in silver, CARRIED many of those games, including pulling off two 4v5 wins, and placed in bronze 5. Fine, whatever, yes I can get back to silver. I'm not overly worried about that. But as far as I'm concerned, the system IS broken. It doesn't place people in the right spot. You REALLY feel confident that it does, Riot? Then next year, do a full reset. I mean, it's certainly been enough years. Or better yet, SELL full resets. You charge $50 for fresh placements, and you'll make more of a killing than you already do. Limit it to one purchase a year, to prevent abuse, and there ya go.
