Illaoi - what to do?

How to counter Illaoi? Picks, items and playstyle? Don't really care about OP/UP/whatever, just wanna know what I should be thinking about when I face her in game.

i found picking up an early item 3123 let me out trade and kill her when she went all in

Garen does pretty well, too. But you realllllly have to watch her e. If you get hit by it, skirmish with her until it's over (not stacking on top of your soul, obviously) and you should be able to out-trade her. If you need to flee and get cursed, be sure to kill 3 tentacles to end it ASAP. Don't go near her while cursed or she can ult with the tentacles nearby and do a lot of damage over a fairly short period of time.

Renekton does really well. By just using E when she used her W, and just in random uses in the harass pattern, I found myself avoiding almost every single tentacle slap. If you avoid them, you will always win the trade. When she grabs your soul, fight for it. Avoid the tentacles swatting you with E and keep hitting her, and your soul will go away without the test happening.

If you get ahead, you can't get lazy, though. I had a item 3077 , item 3044 , and item 3067 to just her , and she could kill me 1 on 1 if the tentacles kept hitting me. But if you use E, as well as general good movement, to avoid the tentacles, you'll always be able to beat her, even late game.

My goal build against Illaoi as Renekton:

item 1029 + item 2003 to start

Rush item 3077

Then, in order - item 3071 item 3748 item 3053 , either item 3111 or item 3047 , item 3742 , item 3156

I'd believe Quinn top would destroy Illaoi. The range takedowns on tentacles could destroy her.
