Who do you guys think is the most balanced champion

imo its either Bard or Sion they dont get many changes ever (bard just got buffed tho) and they fit with a lot of team comps they never are annoying to play against either and they are pretty well designed.

Velkoz because skillshots. I know he has very high true damage, but it's avoidable.

yup. too bad movement speed is usually less than projectile travel speed.

you just need to walk a few steps tho.

the width of most skillshots are the equivalent of a teemo and a half with the end narrowing for precision sake.

thanks! now i'll land every skillshot. thanks for your advice.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

you should so long as you dont shoot an enemy minion or try to do some kind of ridiculous long ranged shot that has a 99% chance of missing.

Ashe Ziggs Draven Ezreal Jhin Lux Xerath Aw, you're no fun. XD

Kilanost3 votes

No champion should be able to pump out that much true damage. The fact that Vel'koz can also essentially apply AOE true damage...just nope. I can't get on board with this one lol.

The only true damage in this game should really be smite, ignite, and red buff.

Dude I'm a freaking Orianna player, (becoming one after years of struggling to play against her and learning her ins and outs) I'm not underestimating anything here.

Masala Chai12 votes

Her level 2 is insane and she has a ton of damage for a utility mage.

DoktorKaiser2 votes

Maybe if you are playing mid lane Soraka, I main Ori for 6 years and she is not a lane bully before she gets mana regen unless vs melee champ played by a person who doesnt know what to do....

Ariel the Cruel3 votes

Maybe if you are playing mid lane Soraka

Soraka has fewer mana problems, better wave clear early, and roughly equal range (Ori Q is slightly longer, but Raka Q can beat it out by using edge of her AoE). Not the hardest match-up in the world. . . . Until the jungler decides they want lamb-chops and camps you all game. (Every freaking time.)

Karthus <- If this guy beats you, you just know you got outplayed.

crippler3813 votes

Sir, Karthus and outplay don't go together.

When that guy beats you, you know you fucked it.

I say this because an outplay to me means you did something to counter an enemy play or used a unique mechanic.

Closest thing Karthus gets to outplay potential is he pushes R, uses a summoner spell or item (which anyone can get) or he suicides and murders your whole team because you decided to kill Karthus in a teamfight like an idiot.

BlackHairedGirl3 votes

Whenever that guy beats you, just know that complaining with only be beating a dead Hecarim. Mainly because you are the dead Hecarim, and you couldn't do anything against Karthus even with all your movement speed.

I believe it's Vel'Koz. I remember people saying the velkoz is the picture of balance. It was actually part of the reason why people didn't want velkoz to be reworked. Velkoz pre and post rework is still balanced statistically.

Need Gold 4 Tent1 votes

back then though, Annie was supposed to be what a "standard" mage should look like. now she's become somewhat complained about despite nothing much changing in her kit overall.

2Charmnot2Charm1 votes

People have been complaining about her since support annie showed up at worlds in season 3.

Need Gold 4 Tent3 votes

yet the point remains, annie has pretty much been the same since pre-season 1, with minor tweaks here and there (tibbers is now actually useful). maybe she was sleeper OP or something. And people are still (somewhat) complaining about flash-tibbers even now.

Taric is up there. He's just real fair and balanced, imo. Great amount of power in experienced hands, but counter-able and a moderate mastery curve.

Also Velkoz has always been widely regarded as well balanced. He gets changes relatively infrequently.

I could name 3 champions for this kind of thread. Hopefully my answers solve your questions: Zed: I hate dying to his death mark as much as the next guy, but he is probably one of the fairest assassins in the game. He has clear windows of opportunity to punish like his W being on a long cooldown and when he pops it but his other skills don't connect, it gives the enemy the window to hurt him. He has a much more limited range than most assassins and that when he hits his combo, it sure can hurt a lot and rewards the Zed player of the opportunity of going in for the kill or making the enemy laner retreat so that he can get CS. He's also over-reliant on his ult to kill people so if his ult is down, his kill and outplay potential is drastically lowered. Overall, Zed's kit is healthy and shows good skill expression if he's played right.

I don't want to remember pre-assassin rework Zed though. Pre-assassin rework Zed was very consistent, could win any match up very easily and that since his W provided him more AD off of his bonus AD, getting a BT on him means you can literally kill anything in sight, even tanks. Zed used to be one of my power picks when I couldn't play Yasuo for any reason but ever since the assassin rework, I rarely play him nowadays.

Ezreal: Overall, Ezreal's pretty balanced in that his kit is all skillshot and that his reliable escape or engage (which is his E) has a fairly long cooldown. Despite his large safety net for an ADC, he's much harder to use than the other ADC's as he's much squishier than most ADC's, he's all skillshot; requiring you to aim pretty well on his skills and that he's pretty feast-or-famine in that he lives for the mid game and if he doesn't get strong in his strongest point of the game, he's gonna fall off pretty hard. He's also snowball-reliant for a safe champion.

But other than that, his damage overall aren't pretty insane, but pack a punch if played right. He also doesn't suffer the "Snowball Syndrome" where X champion gets borderline broken with just 1-2 items like most other champions. Even though his quota is Manamune/Muramana and some other Sheen deriative, getting those 2 makes him strong, but still manageable to play against. Overall, he's an ADC with a fairly unique kit with defined strengths that aren't very easy to abuse on, and weaknesses that aren't very easy to punish. His mixed damage is nothing to scoff at though. However, he could use some tweaks to his numbers as he's a bit too lackluster in the meta imo.

The only times Ezreal was pretty insane though was when items like Spirit of the Elder Lizard, Runeglaive and release Iceborn were in the game.

Yasuo: Yes I know, this is a controversial point in a thread like this but hear me out. Yasuo's kit is overtuned yes, but is fairly healthy to play against. If you look into his kit deeply, you can see that if you look into his skills individually, they're very lackluster but when his skills are combined together, it creates a kit where every every ability blends well with the other much more than other champions. Majority of his damage is also budgeted into his double crit passive which means if he doesn't get his crit items, he's not gonna get any damage as well. Because of his kit having naturally high damage and mobility, it's offset by the fact that he's very squishy and that catching him out with any CC can severely punish him. Even the simplest slow can screw him over if he doesn't have his W or E to back him up. His passive shield is what also gives him weaker survivability as it's very easy to pop, but manageable if the Yasuo player can time the shield right.

Also, he has fairly low base damage in all of his skills, barring his R as most of his power is placed into his passive. His R is powerful yes, but can only be activated through any source of a knock-up, which is fairly occasional unless the Yasuo has other friendly knock-ups with him. Overall, all of his abilities are situationally strong in that; his Q is only strong when you get your items and that it has a knock-up, his W is only powerful against projectiles and is easy to walk over, his E is only strong when he has things to dash to (like the minions) and his R's only strong when there's a knock up for him he can capitalize on. His kit's power fantasy which is the, "Agile Swordsman than can cut through everything but dies pretty fast himself" is fulfilled and executed pretty well. I main Yasuo so I deeply know his in's-and-out's and his limitations as a heavily overloaded champion.

However, release Yasuo and Frozen Force/Tank Yasuo was a nightmare to face against. I've tried both and yeah, Yasuo's broken beyond relief during those times.

Edit: What's with the downvotes? Is it because I mentioned really flashy champs and not basic ones?

Lauchmelder13 votes

I agree with Zed, but not with the other 2.

Ezreal breaks every other item and Yasuos kit is stupid thanks to his E.

Ashe Jinx Illaoi

Ashes ult is easy to dodge unless she shoots it point blank, she doesnt handle flanking and all ins well, etc

Jinxs ult is telegraphed and doesnt do anything if shot point blank, bad early game, etc.

Illaoi is one of the easiest champions to counter in game. You walk away from her ult, you walk away from her E, etc.

fuffychan21 votes

Lol you said Illaoi

AFilthyCaitMain8 votes

If you cant play against an Illaoi, thats youre fault bc shes easily abused. Shes weak pre lvl 3/6, she cant DO anything without her tentacles, she cant keep you in her ult zone, etc.

Kilanost18 votes

Illaoi is literally one of the most oppressive lanes you can play against as a melee champion. Her stealing your soul is probably the most broken laning tool in the game in terms of providing lane dominance. You are forced to either back way off minions (often out of xp range) and miss tons of farm or take double damage as swats at you and your spirit.

When counterplay to a champion in lane involves the phrase "just survive" that champion has issues.

AFilthyCaitMain5 votes

Why would you back off the minions? Her E is BLOCKED by your minions. Anyways, once she uses her E up and she doenst have her ult then you can bully her hard. Her E isnt even too effective if you destroyed her tentacles.

UkeNeverSeme8 votes

Illaoi is easily counterplayed, but a NOT balanced. Because given a certain set of circumstances she can oneshot a whole team. It should never happen, but it CAN, and does occasonally. So shes not just unbalanced, but downright broken. Which is fine in the 90% of games where she doesnt get to abuse it cause of her glaring weaknesses, but not so cool in the games she does.

Kilanost3 votes

Sheeeiiittt, asking the tough questions dude. Thats a head scratcher fo sho.

I'd say Elise is well balanced because her early game strengths are balanced well with end game weaknesses. She has a healthy clear but not a particularly fast or safe one. She has a long distance stun but the hitbox on it is so narrow its hard to hit. She can be build to play an effective role on most team comps against most team comps through her early game pressure and build versatility. And, my most important factor for considering a champion balanced, there is no point where she gets certain items that she is essentially unstoppable (champions that break this rule are Yi, jax, vayne, Xin, Fiora, yasuo etc...essentially auto attack based champions who scale too well with attack speed, crit, and/or life steal though with tanks getting a lot more CC I think this might start to balance out as the counterplay is generally CCing them and kiting them till they're dead. Though I would like to see armor that applies grevious wounds (or something similar) to the enemy who attacks the person who bought it. But I digress).

Kassadin also strikes me as a champion who is well balanced around giving up early game power to gain late game strength. As a mid laner, his q does abysmal damage but timing it well with good position allows you to trade fairly well (because magic shield). His E is very strong (not necessarily on damage but more because of the big slow) and on a low cooldown but its low cooldown can't be abused in lane because the ability needs to be charged. His R needs to stack to do max damage making you choose between pre-stacking it and having it cost 400 to 800 mana per cast and having more damage, or going into combat with a few less stacks which will keep your mana costs a bit lower but offering less damage. As a result you get an assassin who isn't overly oppressive in the early game and still retains the ability to assassinate in the late game. He has great mobility but his R distance isn't so great that a dash or a slow won't keep you in range of him. The more i think about it, the more I think Kassadin is extremely well balanced with appropriate trade offs early to justify his end game power curve.

Then there's this~~ guy~~ ~~girl ~~ thingRekSai . When I think of Rek'sai right now I think of the epitome of all that is average. And when we talk about balance aren't we talking about bringing champions all closer to a central power point with maybe slightly favoring some things at the cost of others. Some of you might be saying no Rek'sai is weak, look at the win rate (48%) well if you consider that most people are playing the champions that are the strongest at any point in time, it explains how you can have a lower win rate champion not be too weak if you're considering balance. Rek sai is only weak compared to the current meta junglers. I could make a strong argument for just about any champion being OP but I literally can't think of one for Rek'Sai.

PureSilvrr31 votes

Rek'Sai is a girl

Kilanost2 votes

People keep telling me that and I keep calling bullshit. Whatever that thing is, its definitely asexual lol.

Tattersall21 votes

Rek'Sai is female. She is known as the Queen of the Xer'Sai. Now, we don't know much about Xer'Sai anatomy, so it is possible that Rek'Sai has no gender and her species reproduces asexually. What is obvious to us however is that Rek'Sai is the biggest and most powerful Xer'Sai out there, and nature tends to make the females of a species larger than the male. Rek'Sai is also clearly the Xer'Sai that… produces the other Xer'Sai, so even if she's not literally giving birth to them she would still be what we call a "mother figure." But like I said, we don't really know. But for that matter, we don't know that Ahri is female. She might just look like that because magic. Piltover probably has plastic surgery technology, so Caitlyn could be a guy. After analyzing all rational arguments (that I can think of), I think it's more than safe to say that Rek'Sai is indeed female.

Can you call bullshit if Riot (the people who made her) says that's what she is? I mean, there's no reason to think she's anything, it's the info from Riot that even made people sure in the first place.
