What I believe he was saying was each had a side they were choosing in a different conflict.

Ex. like people arguing about their favorite sports teams. One person saying Cubs while the other says White Sox are the superior team doesn't make it a battle between the two teams, it is an argument of opinion between 2 people not between the things they choose to argue about.

but it does, you see the civil war is between the marvel characters, because they are both members of a singular team, the avengers and they are the ones who are in conflict, aka war.

Technically the definition of Civil War is "a war between groups of people in the same country" meaning that yes since the event Mavel's civil war contained many battles/skirmishes it could be considered a war, and since they are all individuals in and working for the same country it is a civil war. The topic of why they are arguing has no merit in determining whether a war is a civil war or not.

NO, god no seriously...grrr demacia vs. noxus is not a civil war, neither is MID vs MID a civil war which was how this whole discussion started. the Demacia vs. Noxus is just giving captain America and Iron Man something to disagree about to cause a civil war in the MARVEL universe. it is never a civil war in League's universe.

The reason for my anger/frustration was not that you didn't understand the joke it was your dismissive disrespect in showing that you believed you were absolutely correct and didn't look any deeper into what anyone else was saying, even going as far to include a face palming gesture in an exasperated way of nearly saying, you're hopeless.

Yes while this topic was irrelevant, imagine this from another perspective that again the argument didn't matter but that I was trying to help you and you responded in an insulting/dismissive way.

If you're disrespectful of someone else while debating a topic I don't understand why you would believe you're entitled to respect.

TL:DR

So in conclusion I wouldn't have been any more or less angry if you had made the connection because that wasn't the annoyance. To your second question of why I would be emotionally invested in a meaningless conversation is if you are trying to help someone and their response is to insult you, yeah its annoying.

I don't think that's what he was referring to. The avengers were one group, then they disagreed on which side was good in a separate war. And this drove them to split and they engaged in a civil war.

When you think about it, Captain America's sole weapon has always been physical prowess, deflection, and boomerang-esque shield throws. His shield is the perfect defense and offense.

Meanwhile Iron Man's suit has amazing power, and is best suited to kiting or burst power even without sacrificing physical might. He's more like a classic mage where staying close is where he's at his weakest (which isn't saying much), and any disruptions will deplete his mana/uses/CD.
