New Draven buff a bit too strong...? @RIOT

This is an opinion with some evidence given to support it. Please, if you're going to put this opinion down, do so respectfully and give a reason as to why you feel it is wrong. <3

I dislike it pretty strongly. Draven is a nice character and enjoyable, but he's no fun to play against when Riot keeps giving him even more power than he already had. He was fine before and could still demolish other ADCs if played correctly. Now, his damage output is huge mechanically early and mid game. This causes ADCs like Vayne to really just sit around and wait for farm - hoping they don't get dove on.

Draven's damage output is really destructive in lane - too destructive. As you're farming under your tower, he'll be hitting your tower while denying you CS. Then trying to harass him is a risk as you'll take 200 damage at level 5 or so when he's building up his Q.

I didn't find Draven too annoying before but now his damage output is really heinous. It's quite ironic Riot felt the need to nerf so many champions but Draven had to be picked out of the pool for a buff. Early game with Draven seems too hard of a shutdown.

I feel the Draven buff was completely unnecessary and really contrasts what Riot was stating they were looking for. Draven was good how he was and was a viable adc. Just because he doesn't completely demolish early game AND mid game doesn't mean he needs a buff. He could but there's still room for counterplay. Now, that little wiggle room he gave other ADCs is gone or at least very very small.

TL;DR: The buff on his Q was excessive.

What's worse is that Lucians buffs will barely scale him and he's the weakest adc right now

Look at Draven and he's doing alright and now he'll scale even harder

Honestly i am a draven fan look at the name :D but all jokes aside when i mained him before i got tired of non stop bad supports and the clown fiesta that bot became i could destroy the bot lane with him no problems cause he is one of the hardest hitting adc as long as you can keep the axes up. Now he is just flat busted yet ones like luc got gutted ashe is ok but there still is really in my view no reason not to pick her if vayne or cait is on the table as they are the best. I love trist and enjoy her but even then she usually can't win lane she stalls and then is a great team fight adc. all the adc's need to come into line with each other so it's a matter of play style on who you like not shows the most broken this week.

I don't mind the fact Draven is an aggressive laner. I am fine with playing Vayne and having to hug + defend tower until mid-game. However, he scales way too hard against ADCs, making him unfun to lane against because there's no wiggle room. By the time you can at least trade with him, your turret is gone as Draven's damage output is effective against towers too.

Playstyles don't bug me too much at botlane but statistics do...

That is exactly what i am getting at is it's always the who is most broken adc is who is played as opposed to who you work with better which has been a adc problem for a while. That being said honestly i feel as much as i love draven he is going to snowball extremely hard now and if you misstep you are going to get punished hard. He can melt towers now as well fast and trading is not an option really if he has his axes ready. I am the same way playstyles are fine i perfer draven trist and ashe and vayne but statistic is the issue you're right.

Draven is harder to play than lucian, he should be more rewarding

It doesn't mean he should scale that much though. Yasuo is harder to play than Riven but Riven can be just as rewarding.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

are we including the ability to animation and stun cancel consistently?

Elohaven1 votes

With Riven? Nope. I only know one person who can consistently abuse that glitch very well by the way. It's not as broken as it seems since it takes understanding of how the code and software structure of the game works. It also takes skill and timing.

Skill-indexing is no excuse for being overpowered.

{quoted} demolish other ADCs if played correctly.

Exactly. If played correctly. If a crappy Draven player just tries him out, they will most likely feed their asses off. Draven needs to catch axes to do any damage. That's why he's so unique. Also, think about how Draven is in teamfights compared to someone like Jinx. Jinx just right clicks and kills everything. Draven has to move around in a way that will both not get him killed and let him catch axes.

I'm not complaining about his mechanics. I'm complaining about his multipliers. Yes, Draven deserves to do high damage due to his mechanics, but he also gives a very small window for error or he'll start snowballing. Denying him to pick up his axes is a lot harder especially since blinds do not stop it and the only way to stop his pick up is CC. ADCs don't have that large of a utility to deny him his pickup.

If you're good at picking up those axes, I am fine with you snowballing. However, I am not fine with the free multipliers he's getting. In a nutshell, Riot's post said "we wanted to buff Draven to make him a top-tier adc that can shut you down early to mid game." Why is this such an issue even though he falls off late game?

Late game never comes. I wouldn't mind a 5% damage increase but at max rank with a 105% damage bonus? The squishiness of ADCs and the amount of nuking he can do is absurdly high without items(but including runes and masteries). I'd prefer 85% damage bonus but not a complete 105. That's literally 100 AD going to 205 from just one item.

That's about 5 attacks to kill an ADC ignoring debuffs and other effects.

He gets weak late game though. Plus any cc (which usually someone bot lane has) really messes up his damage. Make him have no axes and you can all in him right there. No other adc is that high of a risk. He deserves his damage with it.

Draven can still auto without his axes, you know. Like every other Marksman. The whole point of the role is that they use auto attacks instead of abilities to scale, after all. Every one of them has some kind of auto attack modification or multiplier. Draven is no different in that regard, and shouldn't be treated any different.
