To compensate for the fact Gnar no longer has any reliable means to chase down anyone and is practically in the lowest spot he's been since ever, down the line hopefully soon, can Gnar receive a massive damage compensation for all his abilities so that while he can't Frozen Mallet anymore, he can pose a threat through damage output like Jayce?

Gnar doesn't shit on melees this is a misconception. Once a bruiser or tank gets on him, he's done. That's why he needed Mallet, to keep that bullshit away.

Still, what exactly do you think building slows and movement speed on a champion with a slow and a built in movement speed boost was for? No champion should have strong chase and strong kite potential, and while Gnar is pretty low on that list he is still on it.
That said I do agree that he needs something, but I highly doubt damage is the right thing.
Daedric Etwahl1 votesThe melee matchup into Gnar is awful to play vs. Can't go for any CS without eating huge chunks of your health. Plus you couldn't escape from him with Frozen Mallet. Even without it, he still has a slow, a speed boost, and a gapcloser. If I can reach him then he can kite me or just hop away and that's that.
I can't really even fight him in Mega form because he gets tanky and has a bunch of cc.

honestly, youre lucky that shit worked as long as it did. mallet gnar was pure cancer and impossible to deal with for a lot of melee champions after a certain point.
he should have never even had that ability to use this item, and riot fucked up by not nerfing that interaction years ago.
as far as his kite and chase potential goes, he is still a fairly mobile champion with ranged cc on a short cooldown in his kit, if you hit and catch his boomerang.

Kaioko1 votesI've been wondering on Gnar -- would it be too much of a buff for him to transform on his next ability and just remove the 4 second transformation time on his passive? You still have to charge it and you still lose it if you're not in combat for a while so that will remain and you still can't fully control it since you won't get to cast a single ability as mini gnar when fully charged.
It does give you a bit more control to actually transform and jump him for that giant ultimate stun though. Not a gnar main whatsoever but that to me seemed to always have been his main issue.
