PSA: You can't fix support itemization by just buffing other items

The thing about Locket and Redemption is that they're potent enough per head that they're good in small skirmishes, but since they're aoe actives, they're strong in team fights. These are the only two aoe support items in the game. How much buffing do you guys expect Riot to do for the other items to match the potency of these two items the way they are now? It'd be impossible without making the whole dang role (and Ivern) broken beyond belief. You can't JUST buff. You have to pay respect to the notion of "healthy game balance".

Honestly, I think support needs more items. Or rather, more USEFUL items.

item 3060 : It's a thing...but it's extremely niche. Like EXTREMELY. I rarely find a time that I need it, but in the rare cases I do I usually come out with a W. Issue is that it's horribly rare because it too closely shares a space with Locket, but Locket is a freaking team fight shield.

item 3174 : The whole community bitches about supports doing damage when we have an item that depends on supports doing damage to use the item. Either the community needs to loosen up or this item needs to be deleted. As it stands now I'm sitting here mentally gagging over Silvers building this on Nami/Soraka/Rakan going "Wow this item feels really good on my champ that has LITERALLY NO DAMAGE."

item 3050 : This thing just goes on and off on its own. To boot, it's specifically tailored to the support/marksman relationship while barely giving much benefit to the support while the marksman probably built 80% crit or doesn't need it at all.

item 3056 : This isn't an item.

item 3222 : The fact that it helped you survive a shit storm while getting you unstuck from it was sort of the reason why this item was good. Now it's garbage because you don't heal while getting out of the cc you're caught in, so the incoming skill shot coming at you is probably going to bury you anyway.

Nerf Locket/Redemption AND make better items out of weaker items so we aren't so dependent on the former combo to be relevant come late game. Also, maybe just have generally MORE support items for more needs? Everything feels like it was designed for Janna. I don't feel like I have support items I'd want to buy if I was Zyra or Leona.

i liek getting item 3050 mid game with an ad comp ( ad jungle, ad assassin mid , adc ) cuz a an ad champ can crit , the passive gives a 50% crit chance at 100 stacks plus increasing their ability damage , works well with yasuo , and so in mid game who ever is the fed ad champ on my team is the one i will bind to with it

It increases AP by 50% not AD nor Ability damage except if I'm drunk since the item release.

It is, though.

  • You can't control the activation, so it COULD activate on time...or while you're just farming minions.

  • It's specifically tailored to crit users...which are almost always marksmen.

  • You miss out on what you could build instead, which is significantly better for your whole team.

Why bother? The issue with support itemization is literally "Why bother with anything else?" Support itemization in its current state is "Be a heal/shield junky or just get out".

You can play Janna adc in norms. Doesn't mean it's good. Same here.
