Does Shisa (Star Guardian Soraka's companion) actually do anything?

I love the Star Guardian skins, and what makes them all the more special to me is the little companions that some of them get!

However, one main criticism I have with this new batch of Guardians, is the fact that all the new Guardians have a companion that assists the guardians in some way, but (from what I can see) Soraka's doesn't actually do anything.

Syndra's companion IS her weapon, along with Ahri to some extent. Miss Fortune has hers helping her out with her ultimate, as well as acting similar to Jinx's companions. As for Ezreal? His companion IS the ultimate!

But Soraka's companion, Shisa? What does he do other than appear in the recall animation? I was half expecting him to appear during Equinox, where he's acting tough in the centre, or... just having a tantrum or something. But he's not there.

I'm probably getting Soraka's skin anyway, but it's a little disappointing that I'm not seeing what Shisa is actually capable of doing.
