Ryze Getting Another Rework & Karma Ignored Yet Again.

For the past 7 years Ryze has received 7 different reworks and iterations ranging from a complete overhaul of his kit to minor adjustments. Ryze received a VGU that completely re-imagined the character and his art. This champion has been beaten to death when it comes to reworks, VGU and large scale reworks. Developers have removed things from his kit and replaced it with so much content, that he remains a meme in the world of reworks. Now Ryze is receiving, yet another, rework to make this champion work. It doesn't matter what type of rework this champion receives because it is time being spent on the same champion with the same problems.

The problem are champions like Karma who received a poorly constructed VGU 7 years ago with virtually no work to rectify mistakes. The problems with Karma's VGU 7 years ago reflects the current problems she has today:

  1. What is this champions gameplay identity? No one knows what Karma is supposed to be and what she is supposed to be doing. Karma's kit and gameplay identity is all over the place. There are champions and item actives that do her "proposed" positions better. The game literally have champions with better skill expression and item actives that do Karma's job better. What does this champion do better than any other one? Karma's kit is not cohesive at all and it's largely because of the fact she still has no gameplay identity.

  2. Skill expression on Karma should reflect a gameplay identity that offers something new to the game. Mantra Q is just a skillshot with poor utilization and blocked by minions. Mantra W is just another tether with a heal that is abused in other roles. Mantra E is just a Iron Locket of Solari active with a Sivr ULT or another support item active. Is Riot Games really telling us there is nothing more unique this champion could be doing with her kit that could also give her a gameplay identity and more skill expression? Karma either sits in the backline and presses Mantra E to shield allies or she shoots out a Mantra Q and hopes it lands and damages a squishy for half of their health. Really, that is all these Developers can do?

  3. One damage move, Mantra Q, with poor skill expression and functionality. No ally mechanic on Mantra W that would really give the ability more usage. A Mantra E that is the most requested thing on her kit to be removed for another damage move or a more unique way to use her shields. This champion actually doesn't have a passive. Karma's current passive should be on her R and she should actually receive a passive. Giving Karma an actual passive would help her tremendously and maybe give Developers an opportunity to give her a gameplay identity. The follow things I listed is what needs to be addressed on this champion. There are ways to use the current kit that new players are so enamored with, to give Karma an actual place in this game.

There was a proposed rework last year for Karma that didn't address the problems this champion suffers. The rework proposed Karma to be nothing more than a support with virtually none of the problems with other parts of her identity and kit being looked at. Karma was a battlemage/enchanter before the VGU 7 years go. The current kit on Karma is a massive failure for her and her community because she doesn't even do that right now.

PROPOSED CHANGES:

PASSIVE: Gathering Fire: Casting abilities on allies and enemies slowly builds up Karma inner flame. When Gather Fire is full, the next Mantra ability Karma casts is stronger.

Mantra Q - Make the ability ground target-table, Lessen the range on it, remove the damage from the explosion, and replace the damage component of the explosion with a heal that is stronger with low health.

Mantra W - Remove the heal from Mantra W and replace it with more damage or stronger CC.

Mantra W Ally - Casting Mantra W on an ally will create a tether between them that transfers damage done one one to the other instead. Also, abilities cast on one of the tethered ally will go to the other one instead (heals, shields, CC and whatever else.)

Mantra E - Remove mass AOE shields indefinitely and replace it with a single target shield that is stronger and grants adaptive damage to the person when it is destroyed.

R - Move current passive here and also add in the rule that when Karma uses abilities on allies it also grants CD on Mantra. Reward Karma for being aggressive as a mage as well as a support.

NOT A HARD CONCEPT. Stop wasting time on another Ryze rework when we have other champions who are going largely ignored for 7 years now. I hate to see a champion being played in the LCS with SO MANY PROBLEMS. People are largely afraid to admit this champion has massive problems from a gameplay identity and kit level. Don't get me started on her art.

Anything with blatantly false information is spam, my guy.

Ryze has had 2 reworks. Mistakenly saying 3 could be explained by ignorance. But saying 7 is just plain spam.

You do have a point about champions who received poor reworks years ago still being in need of change....

Mordekaiser If Mordekaiser only Mordekaiser there Mordekaiser were Mordekaiser a Mordekaiser champion Mordekaiser that Mordekaiser applies Mordekaiser to Mordekaiser that Mordekaiser they're Mordekaiser working Mordekaiser on.
