Why are people crying for crit chance to be removed,and aren't even offering a viable replacement?

HarrowR··2 votes·763 views

If youre going to cry for crit to be removed at least offer some valuable replacement idea,and no,making adcs just do damage to tanks is not a good replacement,that way there would be no incentive to take either tank (cause you get a hard counter) or an adc,which now does no damage to anything that isn't a tank. Also,the argument that adcs shouldn't burst people is also not very good,since you're not getting bursted cause of adc being an adc,its cause youre a squishy,i've never seen a full tank Mao get bursted,while on the other hand even a support like Sona or Blitz can burst squishies for over half hp,not to mention Assassins,Mages and even Tanks,full tank Malphite can burst you for 1k damage,with his full combo,and thats usually 75% of adcs health in late game even It seems most people just want adcs to be a new rift scuttle,unable to attack,200 ms,just obviously not as tanky,it would be a hussle to kill them even though they dont fight back,you just want that sweet and easy 300 gold

A good replacement for crit chance would be something like the energized attacks from rapidfire or statik.

Instead of having a random crit, give it a guaranteed empowered attack.

HarrowR1 votes

And how often could you get that empowered attack,how much DPS would ADCs do then,if they lowered ADCs DPS and make it similar to someone like,taliyah,orianna,malzahar,ahri,cassiopea etc that have a lot of spammable spells,nice dps and of course a good burst,what reason would you have to take adc that now does the same DPS but with no burst,no cc,no tankiness,or any utility? Lets say your idea is implemented,now you have a class that does 1k dps,and we have orianna that does lets say 800 dps but can do 1.7-8 k burst with her full combo,why would you pick adc over her,if they do similar dps but not similar burst,meaning adcs are much vulnerable in a 1v1 or 2v2 situation without bringing anything more to the table than a burst champ

Who is Taliyah2 votes

why would you currently pick a mage over adc, besides the fun factor and being ap?

Mages have to hit spells, while adc's hits are guarenteed. I am not familiar with balancing things around, but I think that empowered attacks would be healthier than random crits.

HarrowR1 votes

Like i said,right now with "busted" crit you get around 1k dps on Cait and 700 on Syndra,that can ult for 2.5k,and her QWE combo does 3.5k full build,if you nerf crit to make lower its dps to 700,there would be no incentive to take ADC over a mage that can also if need be press a panic 2.5k dmg button and explode whoever jumped on her,which adc even now cant,and would even less be able to do so if their dps was nerfed

Weiss Guertena2 votes

Sorry but, numbers you just put out simply aren't possible.

QWE combo deals 710 + 195% AP - for it to deal 3.5k Syndra would have to be a bit under 1500 AP.
7-sphere ult does 1260 + 140% AP. For it to deal 2.5k damage she has to be just short of 1000 AP - and that's assuming a 0 MR target, which is never happening. Also that "panic 2.5k damage button" takes 10 seconds to cook, during which time Caitlyn already shot out 20 autoattacks - enough to murder Syndra several times over, making the comparison even worse.

HarrowR1 votes

Im literally going to post a screenshot if youre to lazy to go to practice tool,and youre actually saying Cait can 1v1 a Syndra? Have you ever played League?

baalzy1 votes

It was said multiple times, you're using Liandry. Do you know what Liandrys does? It does % damage based on the hitpoints of the target. Your practice tool example isn't accurate because liandrys is being used against a practice dummy that has 10k+ hp, causing the number shown to be much-much higher than what would actually happen in a real game.

Like, literally 200-400 dps from the liandries proc alone

QWE combo https://i.gyazo.com/378d746fbb70c5a5ed380d5270d7d696.jpg Ult https://i.gyazo.com/a911a90ee3c72eda0ee3917279ff7e28.jpg You didnt think i was gonna bust you for straight up lying with imaginery math? IF anyone is too lazy you can go to practice tool and see for yourself,and youre right, QWE combo doesnt deal 3.5k dmg,it deals 2.8k dmg,but while you do QWE and stun the target your Q gets back up so it gives you a free 3.5k damage combo,and ult isnt that hard to set up,you need 4 spheres to get max damage ult,Q cd is around 1.5 seconds,you need to use Q 2 times and then do the QWEQR combo to do 6k dmg

Liandries vs a 10k hp target throws your numbers waaaaay off....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD_AYWuvk-o

HarrowR1 votes

Yes,the QWEQ combo now deals only 2.5 k dmg and ult deals 2.2,still nothing to whine about,when cait deals around 1k dps,meaning she still needs at least 8-9 shots to pull that damage off

HarrowR1 votes

Also i apreciate the time you took to actually make a video of proving my point,not just making up random numbers,as you can see my numbers arent "waaaay" off,still more than enough to kill any squishy,or even a bruiser very,but i still think that a class designed for late game should outscale other champions that outscale them until then

Weiss Guertena2 votes

That "imaginary math" are cold, hard numbers taken from game itself. Nothing you say is magically making Syndra have higher base damage or scalings like that. Your "test" uses Liandrys on a dummy with massive HP,massively inflating numbers. Repeat that test with another AP item and then come back with actual numbers.

And I like how you are now altering things to better meet your point when proven wrong. "Oh, but it isn't QWE but rather QWEQ combo". Too bad it still can't reach 3.5k. What you forget is that practice tool shows not only your total damage but also your DPS. A total of 3545 damage with DPS of 684 means that you took almost 6 seconds for that result - an amount which any ADC 0 Cait, for example, for whom you said yourself can do 1k DPS - with decent build will outdo.

Another number you are pulling out of your ass is cooldown. Q base cooldown is 4 seconds, meaning that with 40% CDR it reaches 2.4. Meaning that for a 7 sphere ultimate you need 9.8 seconds - just short of 10.

Oh, and unlike what you accused me in previous post, this time I did downvote you. Specifically because you have the gall to call me a liar over numbers anyone can check in 20 seconds by googling "lol wiki syndra" and prove me right, when all the "evidence" you have are artificially inflated numbers due to Liandri's max HP burn on a 10k HP dummy which, ironically enough, still don't reach the DPS amount of ADC you are trying to defend here. I could do that too, you know; I could just enter practice tool as Cait, buy BOTRK which would add 800 damage vs 10k HP dummy, and complain about 2k damage no cooldown no cost crits. I mean, that's enough to kill any squishy in two autoattacks! What chance does Syndra have if she dies in a second with 1k damage in overkill?

You also seem to be delusioned that an ADC, being a "late game class", should win 1v1 against anyone by default. That couldn't be farther from truth. ADC is a sustained damage class, and a burst mage or an assassin who plays their cards right absolutely should be able to fry an ADC's ass - because if they aren't able to, what's the point of playing any damage class other than ADC when your burst can't outmatch their "sustained" damage?

HarrowR1 votes

The guy posted a video without Liandry,yes there's less damage,but its QWEQ combo still does 2.5k damage and 4 sphere ult does 2.2 k dmg,isn't that enough to kill any squsihy 1v1? Im not sure what youre complaining about,i've been playing malzahar this last few days and carried as hard if not harder than with any ADC,im not sure what's actually the thing that youre complaining about

Weiss Guertena2 votes

IMO best way would be to make %Crit into %Energized, with excess overflowing on each attack. To illustrate, say that you have 70% crit:

1st attack - normal damage, 70% energized for next attack 2nd attack - critical, 40% energized for next attack (70 + 30 to crit and 40 remaining) 3rd attack - critical, 10% energized (40 + 60, 10 remaining) 4th attack - normal damage, 80% energized etc

This would provide similiar levels of DPS while not being tied into RNG. And of course, numbers can always be adjusted, this is just an idea.

HarrowR1 votes

I like how you just down voted me,saying numbers that i put forward are simply not possible and when i show you evidence you simply don't reply anymore lol

Weiss Guertena1 votes

1.) I didn't downvote you, just expressed my point and 2.) The fact that I don't reply immediately only means that I have better things to do with my life than lurk on boards 24/7. I will reply when I login next time - and I fail to see your "tangible evidence" anyway

Part of the point is they are supposed to be DPS. Currently a lot of ADC's can 3 auto kill people faster then say Fizz can kill someone, which is a problem DPS doesnt have to meaning hitting super hard, just constant. The point is for them to kill towers, dragons, barons fast. Not blow up everyone instantly, that is what assassins and Burst mages are for.

HarrowR1 votes

Also go to practice tool,which isnt the most reliable thing to base your data off i know but,make a full build Syndra,and full build Caitlyn,with cait,i managed to get 1k dps,with Syndra i managed to get 700 constant dps with no ult,the difference,is of course syndra can miss her spell shot,another difference? Ult did 2.5k dmg,just one point and click spell,did damage similar to 5 autos from full build caitlyn,while her QWE combo did,a modest 3.5k damage,which is around 7-8 attacks from her,so yeah,for Caitlyn to do the same damage as Syndra to a 100armor target,she would have to do around 13 auto attacks,tell me more how adcs are busted please

Crit wont be removed anyways. It is such an important stat that would change the whole game if it were removed.

i just managed to pull off around 600 constant dps with Orianna in practice tool without her ult,most adcs if you dont factor in Botrk on a 10k hp dummy do around 1000 dps,the difference though,her QWR combo,without even hitting the damage you get from pulling your shield spell back to you does 3.5k dmg,thats around 7-8 attacks from an ADC,at 2.0 AS thats 4 seconds of non stop hitting,while this was in around 1 second,so yeah,if you're standing for 4 seconds while adc is pummeling away you deserve to die,im not sure what this people want? For them to tank an adc for 2 minutes? Also the dummy has 100 armor,someone like malphite has 300-400 armor and Randuin which cancels out IE bonus damage,so yeah it would take a lot more than 4 seconds to kill a tank with just adc hitting him

Tactrix1 votes

I for one would be overjoyed if crit and true damage were both removed, they're designed for no reason other than to break the game and make it unbalanced. Because if you and a crit stacked champ build exactly the same he will win the engagements against you 100% of the time, alternatively if he's true damage stacked like vayne nothing in this world will stop her, not armor, not health, nothing.

@thread

COnsidering marksmen get 1.8ASP, 300+AD, and a ton of utility they dont NEED a replacement for crit. You just flat remove crit from items, give a little AD, and buff attack speed a little;

item 1042 12% ASP ----> 20% asp Gold price: 300 ---> 400

item 3086 = 20% attack speed +15AD item 1051 is replaced with item 1036 Gold price: 1200 ---> 1400

item 3031 = Energized effects deal an additional 100%(+10% per 100 total AD) damage. and 20% crit is replaced by 20% attack speed. item 1018 is replaced by item 2015

item 3085 and item 3046 have a item 1042 replaced with a item 1036 in their recipe for a total of 25AD on each.

item 3508 = item 1018 is replaced by item 2015. Unique passive becomes "+10% CDR for every energized effect you have" Unique passive becomes "energized effects recover 5% of your maximum mana"

Kit-based crit like Shaco, tryndamere, rengar, and jhin wouldnt need changes. Only champions who rely on item-based crit would need changes, and thats basically yasuo and ashe. Yasuo can just have a bonus AD amp, and Ashe can just synergize with energized attacks (instead of crits slowing extra, energized attacks slow extra).

Plenty of viable replacements have been suggested

Have crits apply to targets below %crit chance health (stops upfront burst and makes thematic sense for a "critical" strike, but does have issues of its own)

Have critical hits apply on the last possible hit only, for a given target. If you have 30% crit chance, each hit will apply 30% of a crit stack, until a hit will overfill the stack at 100%, dealing a critical strike with the excess spilling over (In this case, 20% will spill over). Again, thematically this makes sense for a critical strike hitting a vulnerable body part after the attacker strikes enough to expose them.

Have critical strike chance simply add % damage to all auto attacks, capped at 100% bonus (+50% with item 3031 ). Not my favorite suggestion, but it is the simplest.

Have the critical strike damage bonus be a per-champion stat. Instead of just Yasuo and Jhin having modified critical strike damage, it's a variable that can be adjusted for every character. Duelist ADCs like Sivir could have a higher critical damage, while ones more focused on sieging like Tristana or Jinx could have lower crits.

Replacement: Make critical hits ignore some percentage of the target's total armor rather than dealing any bonus damage. Remove Last Whisper from the game. For added giggles, you can now Crit towers.
