Why is it only two Champions have a Spellshield built into their kit?

and , after such a long time, are the only Champions who have a built-in Spellshield. The only other way to get it is via or .

I've long advocated the idea of a Support Champion who can cast a Spellshield on an ally (no, does not count, as her shield does not block damage from physical abilities, nor would it completely negate an ability like Mordekaiser's ultimate), but it seems the idea of adding any more Spellshield Champions is considered "toxic" by Riot.

Is there a reason why Riot doesn't want another one?

No, his shield does not prevent you from applying an effect like Mordekaiser's ultimate.

Her spellshield blocks cc effects from physical abilities tho…

If you want more spellshields that blocks cc AND all forms of damage then you should put alittle more emphasis on that.

its because riot experimented this with malzahar during his rework. his passive was legit the single strongest defensive ability in the game upon release and had to nerfed repeatedly to its current state. 2 second duration,blocked basically everything i think an extremely short cooldown of 6 seconds. and part of why he was so strong that and his busted voidlings which also got repeatedly nerfed and reworked to what u see now. after that fiasco maybe riot has become reluctant to give anymore spellshield effect?

also riot is has a bad habit of making spellshields/shield passives effects extremely overbearing and broken. release yasuo,malzahar right after his rework. so from what i can see i don't think you want riot introducing any more champs with spellshield or shield passives as they'll probably fuck it up somehow.

infact i remember riot having to nerf sivir repeatedly after she got a mini-rework and her spellshield got abit over-buffed. though i think it had more to do with her other kit numbers being too large at that time but you get the idea, so yeah riot really has a bad track record when it comes to spellshield/shield passives.
