What exactly does Riot mean by Yas is underperforming?
He seems good even without the buffs they announced, does he even need this? I mean it's not like he's complete trash like Aatrox is.

well he Kind of is...he has become the aspect of an imbalancable gameplay experience. sure, he is not drop dead broken or utterly useless trash, but the Thing is whether he gets behind or ahead he becomes so uncontrollably extreme it is unfun to Play.
with yasuo the issue is one side will always be frustrated as hell to Play him. be it the enemy or your own team. they meant underperforming in the sense that there is legit noone (except for the mains) that can Play a game with Yas without suffering a breakdown. he's just so unsatisfying to look at and see.
riot did mention that they are considering a large scale rework for him because of that issue. he is not so much of a gameplay balancing nightmare than he is a fun balancing nightmare

I think he needs to lose the doubled crit rate primarily because even though his crit damage is reduced,
+
is all he needs to rush and basically deal regular crit damage (if not a bit above typical crit damage), if they remove that, then he'd be a-ok.
the Problem here is that yasuo is an AA champion who relies on crits to be effective. if you take away what makes him...well...him...riot would Need to majorly buff everything else. theyd probably Need to give his Q and E some actually busted base damages. and they had to nerf both of These to kill non-crit yasuos to begin with (cough tank Yas cough)
even if riot intended to nerf the double crit chance, theyd Need to do some broken as all shit compensations.

The thing is 2 items for 100% crit and the reduction is negated by I.E. (in a sense), it makes him TOO strong, that's my point
that is arguably true. yeah, yasuo gets a lot of power from his items, but then again, so does every hypercarry. the issue with yasuo however is that because of his Q he is able to pull those crits a LOT more often than any other crit champion. and thought his crits are a big deal, they are only strong if properly utilized with his kit.
if you would ask me, the biggest issue is how his ult is designed. sure, 1 second extra knockup is not that hard to deal with and the damage is meh, but the Problems are the sheer base cooldowns and the 50% armor pen he gets, which in turn make his crits nuts.
Thanks for wrapping up my feelings. Here's an upvote
thanks ma dude :D
He's underperforming in the role they want him to be played in, which is the midlane I remember reading that CertainlyT(or the balance team overall?) doesn't like Yasuo top and it's play pattern compared to midlane, where he was intended to be played mainly
The balance changes address this by nerfing his shield early which affects his toplane more and giving him some more MR to compensate to make him slightly better against mages mid
I really don't get what the uproar is, his early game is taking a notable nerf in compensation for a tad bit more MR It's not going to break him
The ult change is help him with his lategame which is pretty overrated by most people
People seem to forget that when Riot announced his eventual rework, the goal of it was to reduce player frustrations with him, not to make him weaker because he is not a balance issue
It's like the same thing with Cho'Gath and Zac
Riot are so obsessed with them excelling in a specific niche or role and being viable for pros that they keep randomly buffing or changing them until one patch their winrate spikes like 8-9% and they become universally banned across all elos and pro games.
Yasuo mid will always be crappy and situational. For one thing, you will need a good ap champ elsewhere which won't happen too often in solo q. For second thing, even among ap champs, he has hard counters, like fizz, akali, malzahar etc and unlike other ad mids, itemizing for hexdrinker when you are already struggling really hurts yasuo, because your delaying your double crit powerspike.
Meanwhile top yasuo can just rush phantom dancer ninja tabi and free farm in most match ups, since his q gives him better reach than most melees and he can just last hit with it, even if the other top laner does get on you annoying shield will mitigate good portion of the burst. Post phantom dancer ie, you can pretty much build straight tank with maybe an additional life steal item and still be more useful than 90% of top laners, because of his hyper carry status.
