#NOTE TO RIOTERS WHO READ MY SURVEY RESPONSE
Riot, you picked the right person to survey about missions. I love missions and think they're great for League. This post was a summary of every mission line we've had before I added this survey response, and the link above is a list of every single mission that we have. (Hopefully I didn't miss any! If I did, tell me maybe!) Basically, I think your missions have been decent but could use some improvement on including players who primarily play modes other than Summoner's Rift. I'm gonna try to give sort of condensed feedback and if you want to hear more, PLEASE ASK ME, I WOULD LOVE TO DO A SUPER-DETAILED FOLLOWUP! Edit: Reading through it again, I realize it's already pretty detailed. sorry! Hope you appreciate the feedback and don't write it off because it's too long! :(
VS. - Great introduction to missions. Rewards were great, mission lines were easy, daily missions were easy. Passes were cool. Very punishing if you missed a day of missions though. Missions had reasonable requirements. Icon requirement was not frustrating because the icons were fun and everyone was new to missions and passionate about supporting one side. Missions generally supported bot games, Twisted Treeline, and Howling Abyss but were geared toward Summoner's Rift except for the 1 ARAM mission.
Omega Squad - Decent. These missions were generally more difficult, like Win 3 PVP games. Rewards were all right. I get it, smaller event, less missions and less rewards. The secret mission (Omega Squad Spotted) was sort of frustrating to get. Bots were not supported, but TT, HA, and SR were all supported.
Arcade Boss World - Fun but HARD. These missions were TOUGH. Ironically enough, the boss battles were the easiest part (thankfully). Stuff like "Win five PVP Summoner's Rift games, get 75 Assists" is quite difficult because that's a lot of PVP SR. Rewards were decent. Love the fact that you made daily missions optional, because not being able to play for 1 day hurts. People only opt in to dailies if they want. Because of difficulty, these missions were also very difficult to complete in the require timespan. VS. mission lines were easier and there were less missions. Rewards were pretty good. Missions excluded bot players completely and almost completely excluded TT and HA players. Icon requirement was sort of frustrating because most people didn't have most of the required icons and had to use the sort of boring New Level Icon.
Star Guardian - Hardest set of missions to date. Rewards were not big but I'm happy because I don't feel like I missed out on too much because I couldn't complete them all. Duration of missions was reasonable given their difficulty. I know for a fact you want to know my opinion on premade missions. Even though it's pretty difficult to organize a premade 5 and then still win, I'm happy you made the two team-forming missions premade-only. The S-rank mission should not have been premade only. In the future, do not do premade-only missions. They are too difficult to do not just because of their conditions, but also because it can be hard to organize a coordinated premade. Maybe you can work around with the OR condition that you implemented for Snowdown - do this as a premade 5 or do this different thing not necessarily as a premade 5. These missions promoted a game mode so they didn't exclude any particular group of players.
Worlds - Sort of difficult. I liked the cumulative missions, and I know that you had to be quite creative to come up with 27 different weekly missions. Rewards were okay, premade missions frustrated a lot of people including me. Duration of missions was reasonable given the difficulty. Tying pick'em to missions was a good idea, saved you guys some work. (I need to know if there was a perfect pick'em mission to complete my list.) I'm glad the Master Pass price went down week by week. Missions focused on SR which was understandable given that the missions promoted worlds, but it really excluded bots, TT, and HA players. The SR restriction was completely arbitrary too, like you could "Get 40 Kills and/or Assists on Summoner’s Rift" on TT or HA if the mission didn't explicitly specify SR. It was frustrating. Icon requirement was sort of frustrating because the icons were kind of boring.
Death Sworn - Easy missions, great rewards actually for how easy the missions were. I love how the DS Ward was a Ward Permanent that we COULD unlock. The neutral objective mission excluded TT and HA players.
Runes Reforged - Easiest missions to date. I realize you did missions so that you could distribute the rewards more easily. This is the first example of dynamic rewards (# of BE Orbs and Epic Skins), so good job with that. Rewards were nice, but the missions understandably didn't feel like real missions. They shouldn't have. As for FWOTD, I'm glad you changed it to reset every 20 hours instead of 22 hours because of limitations with finishing missions before they're given. I'm apathetic to the change from XP to XP+BE, but ik the community wanted it so thanks for changing.
PROJECT: Hunters: Some of the best missions. Not too difficult, didn't force players to play Overcharge for the event, but did force SR on players. HA and TT players excluded again, although bots players were included this time. Mission rewards were appropriate. The lack of mission pass made it so that F2P players didn't feel left out. Icon requirement was sort of frustrating.
Snowdown: Some of the best missions. Not too difficult, gave players a lot of options, except for TT. No love for TT. Rewards were good, again F2P players feel included because of no mission pass. Missions lasted awhile so they felt pretty casual, which was great. It wasn't a time crunch like Arcade or something that brings you back every day/week like VS./Worlds. I don't like getting XP from non-FWOTD missions though. More fun to get other rewards.
New Champion: Good missions, Kayn's were a bit hard but the other two toned down the difficulty a bit. The requirements were creative but not unreasonable. Time was very reasonable. Zoe's reward of 1000 XP seemed quite generic, I liked Icon rewards better.
Concluding notes to Riot: PROJECT: Hunters and Snowdown were some of the most reasonable missions. VS. mission lines were also good. Mission passes are good for your profits and are quite fun but realize that they make F2P players feel left out. Arcade Boss World missions were too difficult for the time allotted, and I think you should see those missions to see what not to do because it's unreasonable. XP is not a fun reward. Icons are not a fun reward when overdone but are a fun reward when given in moderation. Token rewards are fun but you need to give enough so that players don't feel bad if they have extra.
Please stop pushing Summoner's Rift so hard in missions. If you ignore Twisted Treeline in missions, you'll get even less players to play the mode and I REALLY hope you don't use that as an excuse to ice the mode. 3v3 needs your love to flourish, but you're just leaving it in a corner to cry. :'( The way you specify SR in some missions, restrict the mission to SR by warding or SR epic monsters, or specify every other mode except for 3v3 in other missions is discouraging! Please don't do nothing for the mode and then kill it because it's not fun. One reason why it's not fun is that it has no missions!
Other than this stuff that I'm mentioning, I think missions are great!
Extra suggestion: Do the same thing you did with the elemental dragons mission where two different epic monsters contributed to the same counter ("Have your team kill 2 Infernal or Ocean Drakes, have your team kill 2 Cloud or Mountain Drakes") for TT. Whenever you specify killing an epic monster, say something like "Kill 4 Rift Heralds/Vilemaws" or "Kill 2 Barons/Vilemaws." This way the mission is possible on 3v3 and 3v3 players don't feel so excluded when you say something like "Kill 2 Barons." Idk how to fix this for Howling Abyss. When it comes to warding (another SR exclusive thing), just specify trinket casts instead of warding. This promotes using red trinket on SR (an important item!) and also lets TT players use Sweeper and HA players feed poros to complete the mission.
