Create Your Main's Dream Team Comp!

Aeszarck·7/21/2016, 6:17:36 PM·19 votes·2,728 views

People make team compositions around Yasuo all the time, so I thought, "Why not other champions?" Here's your chance to come up with the best team to make your main shine! (EDIT: If you want to do other champions you play aside from your main that's okay too. Your main is just a good champion to start with!) Remember to take into account who goes in which lane and the amount of AP and AD on the team, and also try to make sure there's a tank!

Have fun!

Observations:

[maniacal laughing]: Everyone loves Miss Fortune. She's been in a whopping ten team compositions so far, almost one fourth of the total! Team fights seem to be a big priority, and she's definitely a teamfight markswoman. Boom: Malphite is also really prevalent, even on non-Yasuo-based teams! He appears in seven comps so far. Sorry, Raka: Sustain supports seem to be neglected compared to the other types, tank and poke. (There are almost three times as many teams with tank supports as there are teams with sustain supports!) Do players secretely not like having sustain supports on their team? Statistics check out: Aside from comps clearly trying to include underplayed champions, underplayed champions seem to be rather... unpopular. Does Yorick simply not fit in an actual team, or are people just forgetting about him? (Yorick mains plz don't hurt me this is just a rhetorical question. Also, if a Yorick main actually visits this thread, I'd like to read his or her ideal team composition for Yorick!) Cancerous Champions: Many Boards members have expressed distaste about facing Ekko, Lee Sin, LeBlanc, and Zed (to name a few), both for their kits and their pickrates. Zed and Lee Sin appear once, and neither LeBlanc or Ekko have appeared yet. Is that the Boards trying to say that they don't want those champions on their team either? Why did you go in: Many of the compositions so far are hard engage with a wombo combo. I'm interested to see if more people with different mains post, then we'll see a greater variety of team comps, such as poke, disengage, counterengage, or splitpush. Broken: Despite Hecarim's current status of being overpowered (and perpetual status of being able to decide teamfights with a large AoE fear), I've counted him in two team comps so far. Is the horse not an attractive teammate to have (or a popular main)?

As I look more at these team comps, I'll write down any more observations I make!

My Karthus mid

Karthus is a late game champion with a ton of medium/short ranged AoE damage, so I'll want an early game champion so we don't get crushed before I become unstoppable.

Draven bot

Draven's strong early game should keep the team afloat. He's also got a global ultimate, perfect for when we want to chain together some global damage. In teamfights, he should hopefully be able to catch his axes and keep up his damage while the enemy team focuses on our front line.

Morgana support

Morgana gives this team good engage and helps a ton with the teamfighting we'll be doing. The Black Shield is also a pretty useful tool in general. She synergizes well with Draven in lane, and her roaming is pretty good. She could roam mid to help me get a kill if Draven is doing fine.

Chogath jungle

Cho'Gath is the team's tank. He can provide secondary initiation with his Rupture, and he provides a good amount of AoE damage in teamfights. His ganks will be decent, especially if he can follow up on my Wall of Pain with a Rupture.

Fiora top

Fiora provides yet another good damage source, and a solo member of the team. While the rest of the team more or less require eachother to survive during the lategame, Fiora can either work with or without the team. Her teamfighting is strong with her high damage and area of effect healing, but her splitpushing is also quite strong if the rest of the team ends up not doing too well. Her melee nature also takes some of the burden off of Cho'Gath to take all the hits.

The team's medium/close range teamfighting is a huge boon to Karthus, who thrives being in the middle of enemy teams. Draven and Morgana give the team the early game power it needs, hopefully allowing Fiora and Karthus to scale up to the powerhouses they can be. Waveclear is decent, but the sieging is pretty poor. The team is relatively balanced in terms of AD and AP, having two AD members and three AP.

Top:Illaoi As great as steel is, Viktor does enjoy a fleshy meatwall inbetween him and his enemies Jungle:Khazix With a teamcomp that mostly centers around team-fighting; Kha'Zix is there to discourage opponents from avoiding the massive aoe damage Mid:Viktor (my main champion) Lot's of Aoe teamfight potential, and will kill anything that get's too close. Marksman:Sivir The speed boost is nice. Support:Leona The comp, while abundant in slows, is lacking hard CC. Leona is hard CC.

One super notable flaw is the lack of really strong sieging power other than Viktor's deathray there is no high poke present. If it was obvious this was going to be a large issue (like the enemy team has really good waveclear) I would probably substitute Sivir for Caitlyn, Jhin, Jinx, or Varus

Top (Main): Mordekaiser Jungle: Vi Mid: Lissandra Adc: Varus Supp: Leona

I main mordekaiser, and with morde Lockdown is key. With an entire team oriented around Lockdown + AoE Damage, mordekaiser will be free during teamfights to hit anyone he pleases, with all the targets whittled by ambient AoE his Q and ult will knock out just about anyone. Lissandra and Varus are there to make sure he can't be kited and to provide strong initiation for the Vi Ult + Leona ult followup. It basically deletes 1 person, then the next, then the next, so on.

Here's another for fun: one of my two favorite top laners!

Rumble

Rumble is an AP lane bully with a rather strong lategame. His issue? He pushes his lane really hard. He's got great zone control with his ultimate, so maybe if that theme was built on...

Anivia mid With my ultimate, Anivia's walls, and Anivia's ultimate, this team has some insane zone control. Anivia's ultimate and my ultimate also do impressive amounts of damage over time with slows, forcing enemies to reposition themselves or die. Anivia's long ranged stun gives the team some decent initiation. With an AP mid and an AP top, the team needs some AD aside from the marksman.

Warwick jungle

Rumble's nature to push his lane doesn't normally allow for ganks. (Anivia also pushes, but not to the extent that Rumble does.) That's fine with Warwick; he needs to farm to level six before he starts ganking. His suppression also works wonderfully with keeping people on The Equalizer or Glacial Storm. He's not an especially beefy frontliner, so even though Rumble will be right beside him and Anivia slightly behind, the team needs a tank.

Poppy support

More zone control! If Poppy can get on to the enemies while they're still in The Equalizer or Glacial Storm, then she can keep them there with her Steadfast Presence. She's also able to knock people in to Anivia's Crystallize, and keep them on our DoT ultimates for longer! Her ultimate is a nice tool for disengage when the team needs it, though it is not core to the composition.

Varus bot

It was a toss up between Twitch (BLOW EVERYTHING UP) and Varus (poke power+crowd control), but I think Varus fits better. Varus inadvertently pushes his lane, taking some pressure off of our top laner and jungler. He also gives the team long-ranged poke, which is dreadfully important since the rest of the team is either medium ranged or melee. Lastly, his Chain of Corruption can keep people in the damage over time ultimates and hopefully spread!

The team has extremely solid waveclear with Rumble, Anivia, and Varus, though it is pretty lategame teamfight oriented. Its early game is all right with Varus and Rumble both being lane bullies, though it will have trouble in the mid game. Sieging is decent, but the team's fallback mechanics if it gets behind are few, since it will start losing teamfights and never get the strong teamfighting it really wants.

If I get a team I can communicate with and trust to function as a proper team, this would be my ideal teamcomp.

Top: Quinn (me) Jungle: Hecarim Mid: Annie (I'll explain this odd girl out in a moment) Bot: Sivir Support:Karma

As anyone familiar with the non-Annie champions can tell, this is a hypermobile team comp. Laning phase the goal is to roam/gank early and often, abusing their mobility and the CC of the AP casters to get the lanes fed. At that point, the team begins to use their mobility to secure objectives, split push relentlessly, and pick off exposed targets while evading full fights against stronger teamfight compositions.

Why the inclusion of Annie? Annie provides the team with staying power and instant CC should the situations dictate it. Between Sivir's waveclear and Annie's AOE stuns, it's hard to siege the team should they fall behind, while Quinn can splitpush while Karma and Hecarim catch out anyone sent to stop her. Annie also has initiate power with flash/protobelt + w stun + tibbers, which can be immediately followed up on by Hecarim and a full charge from the team. Her primary weakness in this comp, her inability to easily rotate with the team, can be compensated for with Karma's shields.

Primary weakness is hard initiate teams, as they lack a proper tank to counterinitiate and Annie, the team's primary teamfight powerhouse, has to be relatively close to the front lines to use her abilities and can be bursted down, although Karma shields make that more difficult. Strong early game teams will also be tricky to fight, as both ADCs are relatively weak without items and can get shut down hare early, although Hecarim's strength could partially offset that. While decently resistant to sieging, having two ADCs makes it harder to play from behind, since both scale with items. It also requires precision timing of movements and intense team coordination to not get caught out and torn to pieces, so I wouldn't try it with anyone I didn't know and trust to make the right calls.

  • Dragon and Herald Control
  • Late Game power
  • Picks and target selection
  • Some Engage other than Warwick runs at them (That gets me Killed)
  • But really... PLEASE, Just don't feed... QQ

Top: Malphite Nautilus or Sion This Lane has one purpose, a tanky engage champ with relevance Mid and Late-Game. All Three have heavy engage built into their kit which can be augmented by a item 3742 or item 3800. Malphite and Nautilus can spike in magic damage by building item 3027 without harming their tanky stats. Sion also benefits greatly in damage and threat with item 3748. Nautilus and Sion also can fall easily into peeling for the carries while providing zone control for Warwick to run rampant in. Jungle: Warwick (Obviously) summoner 6 summoner 11 item 1416 item 3124 item 3071 item 3065 item 3748 or item 3091 and choice of boots. This setup makes Warwick deceptively tanky from his passive, BC, and Visage. Gives him the choice of becoming an almost omnipresent split pushing threat from the waveclear and extra tanky from Titanic Hydra, or a MENACE to single targets tank and squishy alike from Wit's End. Warwicks weaknesses remain being kited, though slows become less relevant because of Ghost, Chilling Smite, Phage passive, and Swifties (if chosen). Stuns and snares are this setup's main weakness, without much Armor and MR this build relies on staying in combat for lifesteal and killing THEM quicker then they can kill you. Mid: Anivia Sona or Velkoz AP heavy teamfighters are the masters of Mid. Both Anivia and Vel'koz provide a MASSIVE Amount of magic damage especially in follow up to engages from other champions. Vel'koz also has the benefit of his True Damage passive to cut through any bothersome frontliners. If Vel and Anivia are chosen to pounce on pick opportunities, Sona CREATES them. New Sona's quick spell rotations enable rapid fire damage in the form of Qs and Power Chords with RIDICULOUS amounts of burst coming every 5~ Seconds, not to mention a team wide Stun in case Sona needs to Teamfight. Sona would be the mid of choice into a Pick focused comp. Warwick ult + Sona Q + Power Chord = 1 Dead Squishy ADC: Ashe Caitlyn or Vayne Independant ADCs with high damage headline bot lane. Caitlyn provides a extremely safe pick with high single target damage alongside pick potential with traps and ult. Ashe has a more difficult lane phase due to her immobility, but makes up for it with BOATLOADS of Teamfight damage with item 3085, Utility with Slows and Ults along with one of the most potent pick Ults in the League. (To Those who dispute Ashe's Independence: Have you seen a LCS Ashe kite?) Vayne the one ADC that causes most players to see red. She is here for that very reason, many players lose themselves in the haze of "Kill Vayne, Win Game" and greed for the Vayne as a Vel'koz and Warwick blow up their backline. In Addition to being the most aggro-inducing DPS a good Vayne can turn unwinnable fights into multikills in their favor. Being a Mobile, tank-busting, squishy smashing, juking, ADC with an easy follow up Stun, earns Vayne a Spot in this team. Support: Braum Lulu Morgana orSoraka While having the most options, the supports fall into two Catagories. Braum and Soraka Pick the ADC up and SHOVE their lane partner towards Mid-Game. While Morgana and Lulu thrive when their ADC can get to Mid-Game themselves. Braum provides a tanky protector during lane phase with a simple stun and great trades, while becoming a engager with his ult and stuns in Mid-Game along with powerful zone control with his ult and shield. Lulu brings decent trade and potent shields and CC to lane phase, while transitioning to teamfights Lulu brings speed ups, shields, and an AoE Slowing Ult that can deny death to her Damage dealers along with slows from Glitterlance and FQC, not to mention Polymorphs for over-aggressive opponents. Morgana brings an extremely threatening early game with snares and pools, while her teamfights allow her to catch with FQC and snare, zone with her ult, and get her Carries into and out of battle safely with Black Shield. Soraka brings a sustain based lane keeping her partner topped off and the pressure on their enemies, in teamfights Soraka keeps EVERYONE alive Single target and team Heals keep her team healthy and an AoE Silence provides zone control and defense against burst champions.
