Draft Mode Matchmaking Suggestion! Rank all positions by preference

From what I can tell the current matchmaking strategy assumes that every player's least favorite position is support. Of course it's the least popular but the system isn't the best for people who actually like support. Wait what? Well let me explain.

I like support. However, it's not my main position. So I am not going support every game. In the event that I get autofilled, I am not guaranteed to be support. I might get my worst role, Jungle, instead. Ironic, considering that I would happily play any of the other 4 positions, especially support.

I would rank the positions mid top/supp adc jg

Well, the system might still make me jg even though the other 4 players on my team are probably more willing to jungle in 99% of my games.

So if you get my point, then the solution is obvious. Implement a system in which the player can order all 5 positions from favorite to least favorite. Ideally you'd never get bumped down to your 5th choice unless _maybe _ it's support.

My roles would be:

Top/Jungle Support Mid ADC

And yes, I do support your idea.

Another thing that bothers me is if I say I want mid or top, then if I get top I'm not autofill protected next game. At that point I could be forced to jungle, so It's better for me to always say mid/supp even though sometimes I'd like to switch it up and say mid/top, I don't feel like it's worth it because it could result in me jungling in later games.

That's actually a really good idea.

I hate that Riot forces people to support, more often than not it creates toxicity or a bottom lane that doesn't function well.

I'd rather wait a few more minutes in queue than spend 20 minutes or more in a game where bot went 1/10 because someone got stuck supporting and doesn't realize there's more to it than warding.

Or someone like me who doesn't even realize we should be warding when we are support.

I doubt that my idea would result in longer queue times anyway. Maybe it would be shorter. I mean, it's a fair assumption that there is a significant percentage of players who consider support their 3rd or 4th preference. Every time autofill happens there is a significant chance that it wouldn't put that player in support even though they would prefer it more than the person who got autofilled into support.

By allowing players to be more specific with their preferences the matchmaker should be faster and more accurate at the same time.

Of course in the event that all queued players have support as their 5th preference, then it should make somebody do it instead of waiting longer. That is consistent with Riot's decision to make queue times faster. So all I'm really asking for is an accuracy improvement by allowing players to specify their preferences better.
