Quick Guide to Laning against Fiora

I've been playing a lot of Fiora lately, and I noticed that many of my opponents did not know how to properly deal with her. I decided to record some simple tactics against Fiora seeing how so many players are frustrating with her on the Boards.

Vital Mechanics:

1. If a vital procs on a unfavorable side, walking out of Fiora's passive range will reset the vital.

2. Every time Fiora procs a vital, the new one will spawn on the opposite side (ie. If a vital was activiated on the left or top side, the next one will be on the right or bottom side). Try to position yourself so she ends up on the wrong side after she procs a vital. If she hits a vital at the top side, walk down or left to avoid getting hit with another vital proc. *Due to a bug, this is not always true.

3. If you walk into her OR clip your vital into terrain she will not be able to proc it. This trick can completely screw Fiora over. Just clip your vital into a wall and she will have to back off. Likewise, if she uses Grand Challenge, you will be able to avoid 2 of the vitals.

4. Buy . It drops the ultimate immediately.

5. Fiora can still proc a vital until the next one appears EVEN if the animation disappears. However, there is a ~1 to 1.5 second delay between each vital.

Lunge:

1. Know this distance of this ability. The actual range of her sword is ~2x the distance she covers with her dash. The total range is roughly the distance an Udyr can cover in ~2 seconds in bear stance.

2. If she ever miss this ability in lane, go ham.

Riposte

1. Ideally you should bait it out. However, there are actually abilities that are too "fast" to riposte without scripts or predictions. If a Malphite casts his ultimate in close range of Fiora, Fiora will not be able to riposte it unless she is hacking or she has predicted it. This applies to Pantheon's W and Poppy's E as well. (This is why Fiora has ~40% win rate against these champions on Champion.gg)

Counters: Fiora is weak to slows, heals, shields, ranged harassed, and sustained damage.

• Slows do not activate Fiora's stun on riposte, and she has trouble closing large amount of distance in one Q.

• Heals and Shields are not calculated in the % max health true damage. As a result, her vitals will be less impactful because her opponents can just shield the damage or gain the health back.

• As mentioned earlier, Fiora has trouble closing the distance against ranged opponents, so poke champions can harass safely from range.

• Fiora needs time to proc her vitals, during that time she can be taken down by a champion with high DPS such as .

: Lulu pretty much counters every melee champion. Fiora will struggle to get to Lulu and finish her off. As well, she cannot retaliate against Lulu's poke.

: Same reasons as Lulu

: Fiora wants to stick onto the Donger - if she can get pass the turrets that is.

: Poke Fiora down level 1 with Q, all in at level 2 or 3. If Pantheon casts W at close range, Fiora will not be able to riposte it.

: The shields block Fiora's vital early game. Late game, Fiora will struggle to put a dent on Malphite without her ultimate.

/ : For these two champions, they just have to use their ultimates when they are about to die to Fiora's ultimate. Fiora's vitals do not account for health they will gain in the future.
