I choose a late game top because as long as I go even, it hurts the team to actually choose an early top? Reason? No dragon to contest over. Make top lane more engaging cause junglers rarely gank, maybe once or twice to set the lane. Usually they gank bot cause 2 champs obviously or mid over top because of dragon.... make top more needed???

When I play top, I actually choose NOT to take teleport, because if the enemy top laner decides to TP to help with Drake, then I'll just take his turret.
After that, I'll usually ward up red side jungle so I can push him to his next turret, and keep taking turrets as long as he's TP'ing to drake.
There are trade-offs to taking TP, you just have to learn how to abuse TP users, and learn how TP can help you.
Gotta weigh the trade-offs and decide which is best for you.
Pro Tip: If you only use TP to get back to lane, and you never TP to sway a teamfight, you're probably better off taking ignite (or something other than TP at any rate.)

The only thing I can add is that TP for only in lane use can be better than ignite in either a hard matchup where falling behind is not an option or while playing a champion who scales better with levels than gold. Otherwise I agree completely.
