Xerath used to have a unique root in place for extra range mechanic, but that was removed.

fiddlesticks is a jungler and they wanted to focus more on mages that are meant to go in lane xerath has a clear niche of having the easiest to hit poke at the longest range vel'koz has no niche. he does kinda more damage than most mages but not really the most and he kinda has some nice cc but it's really just ok. Yet his kit is really fun while still feeling fair to the enemy so if they could somehow find a niche for him without changing that then more people would play and experience him.

vlad doesn't go mid xerath doesn't have niche, doesn't have uniquenesses, his niche currently is overwhelmed by Lux Ziggs
