Daily Reminder: Nasus Wither on 45%CDR Rank 5 has an effective 1.05 second cooldown.

After3perma··23 votes·10,289 views

It says 6.05 seconds on the tooltip, but because the cooldown starts as soon as W is pressed on a target and not after, it technically has a 1.05 second cooldown.

I like getting slowed by 95% by a point and click ability. I like my attack speed cut into half by a point and click ability. I like that I cannot build Tenacity to counter it because you get slowed faster than 5 seconds with Tenacity.

Tell me the counterplay to this bullshit, toxic game design?

Don't say stupid shit like "Buy QSS" or "Buy Mikaels", like how many times is that going to stop Nasus from spamming W off cooldown?

The only proper counterplay to 45%CDR Nasus Wither is to "Just don't get clicked on". If you get hit by a 45%CDR Nasus W, pray that your Flash or something comes back up before he goes full URF mode with Q spam.

The only way Rito can add proper counterplay to Nasus Wither is to either make the cooldown start after the effect has worn off, or start the slow at 95% and decay over time instead of increasing the slow.

It's the other way around: even with a 95% slow Nasus still gets kited to death. You're garbage at the game if you complain about Nasus anyway. He will never be good in a game overloaded with CC and damage.

“A 95% slow is useless in a game filled with CC.”

Moody P2 votes

it's only 95% for the last second of its duration.

You shouldn't be fighting late game 1 vs 1 against a Nasus, this has been a rule since this game's inception. Everyone knows at this point he is one of the best late game duelist, so you don't duel him 1 vs 1 late, you team fight and abuse the fact that his only CC is a slow and he doesn't have the mobility in his kit to capitalize on it.

The funny thing is no one said anything about 1v1ing him.

That is just what everyone's implying, because that slow is even weaker in a teamfight setting. Unless you land on someone specfically non mobile, or the ADC, that slow is a subpar piece of CC especially in the current game where half the cast has dash/flashes in their base kit.

Flawless Fetus6 votes

In teamfights he's trash. This has to be a 1v1 complaint. They counterplay to his w, or his kit in general, is that Nasus is a cocktier teamfighter. Lol.

Nasus isn't good late game, why would I be worried about him then?

Eh. He's immune to them during his ult.

Jamaree6 votes

The counterplay is that he sacrifices mobility and a slow that actually does damage, and kiting.

So you want to know the real reason why Nasus slow is so strong? It is twofold. There are 104 champions in LoL who have slows in their kit. 8 of those champions with slows, their slows don't do any damage. One of those slows is tied to a harder CC, Fiddlesticks with fear, so it doesn't count only as a slow. Out of those 7 remaining slows, 5 of them are AoE leaving just two single target slows that don't do damage and they are Nasus and Zilean. Zilean slow is just as hard as Nasus and can have as just as hard of a slow but has half of the duration, but because of the rest of his kit, he can get his slow out far faster then Nasus can.

So his slow gets to be so hard because that is all it is, a slow. It isn't a snare, it isn't a stun, or a root, it is an MS and AS slow that does no damage on only a single target and when you couple it with the rest of his kit, a kit that has no mobility to realistically close the gap on its own, he needs a slow that strong. So if they want to nerf his slow, they have to give him some kind of compensation, whether it be giving the slow damage, increasing his own MS when he uses it, something.

Eons31 votes

So your saying, if we make a cc that does no damage, has a high cd its ok if that single cc is completely brokenVeigar . So why did Talon lose his silence again???

UnboundHades1 votes

nasus w is literally just a slow which is the weakest form of cc in the game while veigs e is a stun which is a stronger form of cc and talons old e was a fucking blink that let him kill you for free

Veigar's stun isn't single target, it is AoE, a harder CC then a stun, and because of it, has a longer CD then Nasus Wither. And he lost his silence because he was utterly and completely oppressive to any mages with little to no counterplay?

MrHaZeYo1 votes

Talon lost his Silence for the same reason LB and Kass did, it was a point and click silence on a assassin that basically told Mage's that they couldn't do anything while they got assassinated.

Currently Fiddle, Garen, and Raka are the only 3 champs left with Silences. none of them are mid laners anymore so I guess it makes it's ok? It's still a stupid concept that needs to be removed, specially with Irelia losing the other version of it, disarm.

Frosted Tips5 votes

I agree that it is ridiculous, but the only way to fix all these obnoxious old champions is through VGUs, but Riot is scared of upsetting people with change, but this shit is unhealthy and outdated. The game has changed and champions need to as well.

Frosted Tips2 votes

The difference is that the champions I pointed out were staples of league at one point. So people think they are still fine.

3TWarrior2 votes

they are still fine. Thing is, if a new system introduces something that is unhealthy, why are the older parts unhealthy instead?

Stray Kat1 votes

I'm not sure Diana was ever a "Staple" of league. She's also slated for the next double update. Kayle(Big changes)/Morgana(Small changes) coming up, and Diana(Big changes)/Leona(Small changes) are often mentioned as the next "Double" after them. It'll still be a year or more, but eventually she'll get changes.

Yi still IS Fine, as are many of the others there. They all have strengths they can exploit, and weaknesses their opponent can exploit. Kind of a goofy list.

CØulrophobia1 votes

Dont count Vlad as VGU, it was a catastrophe that turned drain-tank-mage into a burst mage. Unhealthy little BS that Vlad is now deserves a revert.

Coming from a former Vlad main that still plays Vlad from time to time. In fact I would even say that couple of other "reworks" were nothing more but a glorified deletetion of a champion just like Vladimir rework.

MrHaZeYo1 votes

He was changed though right? So it's relevant to the discussion.

Aseraan1 votes

But why are they "scared"??? Where this scared comming from? They werent scared when they fuked up the juggernauts. They werent scared when they fuked jungle from time to time. Not scared when broke the support items. Not scared to rework champs into totaly different champs cutin them from their old playerbase. Not scared to make balance changes around totaly unneccesery lcs. Not scared to allow more "Yasuo spawns" into the game. Dark harvest Lethality Turret plating..... sry i wanted to say more snowballs into turrets. ETC

I dont see they are scared at all.

Frosted Tips1 votes

they are scared because of some of those that were mistakes and some of those that players hate even if they are fine.

Aseraan1 votes

Yes but then there is the everlasting fuk up called "reverting" we had things reverted already why we cant just seriusly stop trying to fix something thats unfixable by basic concept and go back somewhere thing was less shit?

I like how the game is being extended in duration now (thankfully!) and yet Nasus will still have this buff... :D [zombie-brand-clap]

ROYALR3IGN3 votes

Oh I think if you build Swifty boots you can reduce the amount he actually slows you for!

Edit

If you're in champ select and you see a Nasus, you can take the Tenacity rune over bloodline and alacrity (if you're taking the precision tree anyways.) Then if you do end up getting a swifties, you'll be able to reduce the duration of the slow and the amount you're actually slowed for.

For Nasus he only is able to get 1 CC ability for a tank and it's not technically a root or a stun. It lets you move quite a bit / flash AND can be removed completely with QSS/Cleanse/Miks. On top of that it doesn't do any damage whatsoever.

And then the complaint is that he at 45% CDR he can do that. He needs 3 items minimum to achieve that level of CDR, depending on if he get IBG or Triforce. He can get 5 from runes (assuming inspiration tree and not sorcery) , 20 from IBG/Frozen Heart, 10 from Visage, and 10 from 1 more random item depending on the game. That's a lot of time to shut him down early before he can reach those items.

You could just go tenacity boots for 35% less slow power AND DURATION, then go tenacity masteries for up toa 70% gimp innasus slow AND duration. But its more the problem nasus has if he ISNT 1v1ed or stopped. His q WORKS ON STRUCTURES, this means you HAVE TO STOP HIM, which means you send more than 1, which means 3v4 mid lane goes down and so does the dragon. Nasus and tmere and in some cases singed are enbalers of unfun strats.

Merc Treads / Tenacity do not reduce the effectiveness of the slow, only the duration. Mercs give you 30%, and Legend: Tenacity gives you another 30 at max rank I think.

While I agree nas is u fun, you calc on tenacity because it doesn't stack additively, it stacks multiplicatively, which means if you have tenacity source 1 giving 35%, and source 2 giving 35%, you get less than 70%, much less

Sasogwa2 votes

It's his only stickiness tbh, and it's single target. Jax with spammable Q once he reaches 40% cdr is just as unescapable as Nasus.

Flawless Fetus2 votes

You're right, but he's still garbage. Lol.

Lil Homie busta1 votes

No one named Darius or Master Yi can kill Nasus alone after 20 minutes. +100 champions in the game, none of them can do shit against him unless he's greatly outnumbered. That's speaks loud how fair this champion is.

Eons31 votes

Swain can, he can literally push R and walk casually away from nasus for both of their ults durations.

DemonicDogyt1 votes

Yi can't 1v1 nasus if he has stacks (ahem jg nasus).

Kumiho Ahri1 votes

It is old design. The idea is suppose to be that he sucks in early against everyone, but becomes a monster late game. Rito changed the length of early/mid/late game with RR. I cant tell you how nasus performed after RR (Ask the mains) but Rito thought he could need adjustments to adapt better. They probably are going to keep an eye on him, collect data and try to hit the sweet spot with the amount of stacks in an other patch.

MankeyMadness1 votes

1.05 second downtime, then. Which is like 80% uptime on a champion that rushes Trinity and Glacial shroud. Nice, fair champion Riot.
