Its about managing expectations man. 2 Seasons ago, I would get into queue not expecting to get the role that I wanted, or at least 2 of them. That meant I played other roles that I simply didnt find fun as a bit of a tax to play the roles that I wanted. So Rito fixed that, because frankly its a massive waste of time, it makes people fight in champ select and just causes obnoxious behaviour in general. All autofill does is makes it worse for me as a player because i expect to get the roles i queued up for, but I can at any time get any of the other 3 roles that I didnt queue up for at random. It feels horrible, and frankly, worse than the old system, because now I dont the the roles I expect to get at random. If Im not supposed to expect that, dont give me the option of doing that. I would rather play 1 less game of league a night because I had to wait on queue than not get the role I wanted and be autofilled into something Im not prepared for.
I shouldn't have to play something that I dont want to play - rather its in Rito's best interest to make me want to support. What if Riot gave an RP stipend to people who played support, or extra keys a month in the loot system? I guarantee you this would sort itself out fast as fuck. As it is, this system disencentivizes me from playing solo-duo without a support main, or just playing 5 mans (Im not saying thats the only thing Ill be doing, just that its way more favourable than other options).
