So what happened to Mandrake Wards?

Now that stealth wards are gone, these things would be so useful. What happened to them?

EDIT: For those who don't know what these are

Consumable

Places an invisible blind sentry in a brush for 2 minutes. The plant will ping the map if a visible or invisible enemy is within 1000 range. (Counts as towards the max of 3 Stealth Wards placed at a time.)

I remember Xypherous said it was just experimental, and he also said it most likely would not make it to live and would possibly get scrapped along with the Abyssal Ward changes. Most likely, that's what happened after all.

Pretty much this.

When they first began discussing this way back, I was so eager for them to be implemented. They just silently disappeared as other features/champs/etc were announced....

I am only at the assumption that it may as well have been an item that could give too many 'false positive' warnings and just be aggravating rather than helpful.

There Were several really bad bugs with it. False Positives, sometimes the Scuttle crab would set it off, The bug Owltears mentioned where it would cause the stealth ward limit to break. That alongside the fact that the ward itself was likely never intended to actually make it to live.

If I had to guess, the Mandrake ward was made to test a Mechanic they plan to implement in the future on an item or champion.

Like perhaps Ao Shin

or the wolf camp spirit.

Both would be good if they hadn't already existed before Mandrake

Good to know that Riot's spaghetti code is constantly robbing us of good features.

They're using a spoon rather than a fork to clean up the spaghetti code.

I was in the beta for this, the mandrake wards had an error when a ward was placed in the bottom tower bush near a normal ward. If done correctly you could places an UNLIMITED amount of wards all over the map and they all worked. There should be some posts far back if you search Mandrake up, I hope this helps some.

Are you any different!? You sacrificed yourself to save me that time!! At that time, were you thinking about complicated stuff like "this is my Shinigami duty"!? That's not what sacrificing yourself is!! At the very least, I'm different!! I haven't accepted any commitment. If things get bad, I might run away, since I'm not a good enough person to be able to sacrifice my life for total strangers. But, unfortunately, I'm also not trash that can live happily without paying back his debts

Pretty OP wards

I think it became blue wards. Both of them have long cast range and large vision radius.

The pinging mechanic was a bit broken in all honesty, With one down it was pretty hard to get ganked. With a normal ward you can have vision and still not see them because you missed them, but the mandrake pinged which made it impossible to not utilize your vision. Basically you wouldn't have to watch the map nearly as much.
