AP champs after the Maw buff...??

How do people think mages will stand after this...? We just got the mana nerf which makes us more susceptible to assassins when shoving/pushing, and with the maw buff I'm guessing that it will make assassins better picks into the mid lane, and depending on how strong the item becomes, may even be able to straight counter mages/ap hybrid assassins alike. The shield is already a pain in the ass to deal with with the short cd and the fact that the only real counterplay to shields right now is procing Irelia's passive (You either have to wait the shield out, or blow past it if possible and if you are playing an ap assassin/hybrid like / / l ? once you've blown your load you're either fucked or you kill them within the next 40 seconds assuming they or their team haven't killed you first.)

I'm really not expecting much feedback letalone positive feedback, but this is a concern of mine and I'm curious what higher level players/mage players think. Champions like and are basically fine but their jobs will become alot riskier without a significant lead.

Just a reminder: I've been playing for almost 6 years now so I think I have a pretty decent clue as to what I'm talking about. I've spent a good amount of time with every mid laner that isn't fucking (i cannot land that LASER) so please don't undermine my opinion because of my rank when I've got a fair amount of experience under my belt. I get lazy and stop playing ranked generally but i'm trying again this year.

Or should i bow down to our rising assassin lords and just learn ?? Also i really hate how Im seeing more play and you know how that story goes if he's on your team... I actually had to calm one of my teammates down in discord because our yasuo was 0/12 by 20 minutes and he was actually trying... I actually think he was having a mental breakdown.
