Let's Make Rengar's Ult Healthier and More Interesting
Right now, Rengar ults, goes invisible, and all you get are perfunctory (carried out with a minimum of effort or reflection. You learend something today. Nice.) !'s over your heads before your adc evaporates. It's gone through a few changes to try to incorporate more counterplay, but can still be really frustrating. It also doesn't feel much like a hunt and more like a "well, I had a good life" moment. So let's make it more like a hunt!
Rengar becomes invisible and reveals champions in a large radius around him (as current). Rengar then selects one of them to hunt. The hunted target receives some kind of notification, but his teammates do not. The hunt continues for some time, during which:
- Rengar is invisible while not moving
- Rengar is invisible while moving outside of a certain radius, which gets larger the longer he moves for. Moving through brush does not increase the radius. The radius appears around enemy champions on Rengar's screen.
- Moving towards the hunted target extends the duration of the hunt (to a point)
- Rengar has the ability to leap to the hunted target (just like now). Doing so completes the hunt
- The hunted target (and only the hunted target) has an increased distance over which they can see a moving Rengar only in the direction their champion is facing. This "extended vision wedge" is visible to Rengar
- The hunted target seeing and damaging Rengar completes the hunt.
- Taking damage from other sources does not end the hunt; attacking or casting abilities on non-hunted targets ends the hunt as incomplete
- If the hunt completes, Rengar rapidly generates bonus ferocity (incomplete hunts do not generate bonus ferocity)
This would preserve a lot of the fighting ability rengar has now, but give the target and his teammates the chance to do something about it besides pray someone has an empty slot that they put a pink ward in. It would also be a more interesting minigame that feels more like a hunt, and prevent rengar from using his ult to flee as effectively, because a hunted target can pursue and end his hunt easily. It also means that Rengar has to use it proactively against a specific target instead of just picking whichever squishy is easiest when he decides to finally go in. I'm kinda proud of this idea so I'm going to shamelessly bump it for a while.
reveals invisible champs and slows them! Perfect to completely disgust stealth champs
