Does the League community worship skill?
It seems in this game more than anywhere else, any horrible thing you might do will be forgiven if you're playing well. People that are openly toxic are 'forgiven' by their teammates if they play well, no matter what they've done beforehand. Honor in this game rarely goes to the people in game that actually represent what honor is supposed to mean. People seem to love it when content creators like Prof. Akali, Glacierr etc. smurf in bronze and utterly stomp games that they rightly should because they're playing their mains.
Also, playing badly opens you up to the worst abuses possible. People will go out of their way to flame and insult people playing badly, which only makes the victim play worse. Reports, much like honors seem to rarely be given out to people that are actually toxic or actually inting, but instead just to people that are having a bad game or not showing enough skill.
I'd much rather play with someone that's nice but not as good, than someone who's good but extremely toxic. People naturally improve over time, and I'd rather share that with someone that's nice than play with someone who I'd probably stop being friends with in the span of a month or something like that. Most people I've seen answer that specific scenario seem to prefer the latter, and I don't understand why.
