An Illustration of the Problem with ADCs
TL;DR: ADC itemization is crap right now and they don't scale properly compared to other classes. Keep reading for more info.
So imagine if Riot introduced this new item. Let's call it Cactopus's Crossbow. It looks roughly like this:
Cactopus's Crossbow:
- Zeal + Pickaxe + 2x Long Sword + 125g (3000g total)
- 60 AD
- 20% AS
- 20% Crit Chance
- Unique: 5% MS
That's pretty damn good, right? Probably even broken. I mean, why would this eve-oh wait that's literally just ADC Morellonomicon.
Morellonomicon, by the way, isn't even the first item on all mages. It's not even overpowered IMO. This probably would be because AD and AP stats aren't equivalent in how they scale up, but that isn't the point. The point is that AP champions get something like this as an option for a rush item (as do other damage-dealers like assassins or bruisers), and ADCs are stuck with rushing the equivalent of frickin' Deathcap or Ludens. Do you rush Deathcap or Luden's on anyone? No, you don't, because they're only good after you've gotten a bunch of AP already and they have crappy components.
But that's exactly what ADCs have to do. They need to rush "Deathcap" (IE) and "Luden's" (Statik Shiv and other Zeal items) every single game.
My troll item up there probably isn't the solution. I don't know what is tbh. Bring back S2 Bloodthirster? Introduce a bunch of "Morellonomicons" for ADCs with unique passives to fit different types of champs? Point is, ADC early-game and mid-game needs some serious attention right now.
get multiplied more and more the longer the game goes. Crit also multiplies base AD as well.
