Can I ask Riot to demote me back to Bronze V?

I don't feel like I'm good enough to compete at the upper bronze level, and think that I should be ranked much lower. If I send in a ticket asking them to put me back at B5, will they do it?

No. Just play and if you're not in upper bronze, you'll surely decline in performance.

You'll still be playing with and against the same players you would otherwise be playing, since the matchmaking is based on your mmr, not your rank. You can be in silver and still be playing against plat ppl - something ppl have been complaining about, saying it doesn't make sense that you have to win against a plat in order to climb in silver.

If anything, it is the match maker rating that you want to be lowered, but that is not possible, because doing so means riot is approving the nature of smurfing in the sense of ppl in high elo using low elo rating to play against low elo ppl.

Can they lower my MMR then? It's clear that the people I'm playing against are vastly better than I am.

Then it'd be too easy for people to further ruin Bronze play by asking to be demoted when they're a smurf account when they want to make youtube compilation videos for money cuz you can just style on bronzes.

Well yeah, they don't have to set a precedent. They can just do it to me and no one else.
