Can we have a new "badass" support champion please

Over and over, kickass champions get released or reworked with amazing kits and interesting abilities. More dashes, new interactions, and higher skill ceilings - that's all great. So, can we please get the same treatment in the support role?

The only real badass supports we have are Thresh and Leo, both 5 and 7 years old respectively. And in terms of high skill-ceiling supports, its pretty much just Thresh.

Support is long overdue for some new blood that allows for skill expression. Every other role has multiple champs that are high on the skill ceiling chart. Outside of 5 year old Thresh, Support doesn't have champion mastery equivalents to Yasuo, Gangplank, Azir, Taliyah, Riven, Fiora, Vayne, Draven, Cassiopeia, Nidalee, Lee Sin, etc.

I know Riot can do this. If they managed to create a jungler that was primarily a support, then they can manage to create support characters that have high skill ceilings, just like every other role in this game enjoys.

Sorry, he said "badass", not "eye blindingly beautiful and fabulous". There's a bit of a difference between the two.

When was the last time you saw a Janna in pro play? Why do people in solo queue always ask for a tank support? Janna is useless if her teammates are bad and she can't spoonfeed kills to the adc or jump into the middle of a fight for them if their positioning is bad.

The day before yesterday, iirc. She's actually picked a fair amount. She isn't top tier right now, but she's picked decently enough for a tank meta. More than picks like Morgana.

How does Poppy Support work? I love her but I feel she’s too short ranged to work in that lane.

She's an exceptional counterpick to Rakan and Lee Sin. She's not super awesome outside of those matchups. Allistar is a much better peeler.

The has three advantage over Alistar of high base-damages and base tankiness, so she also functions as a bit of a bully against shorter ranged adcs or supports with less poke/peel.

She's not a 100% first pick op op, bit she certainly has her uses.

She was AMAZING when lee was top of the jung picks, now she just gets out tanked by stuff like ali or leo, doesn't have reliable cc, and poke supps will bother you all game long.

I wouldnt call 120lb-High-Elf-Malphite a "badass" per se.

Sion isnt primarily a support champion. He just happens to work in that role in certain matchups like "support" Brand does.

Braum is mighty, but he's a protector.

To to make sure I have this right, your badass support has to be

  1. Themed as an aggressive, heavyweight brawler,
  2. Have mobile, high skill-cap gameplay,
  3. Be primarily a support, rather than functioning effectively in the support role,
  4. And be a generally good pick, rather than a matchup dependant pick.

That's quite the list of criteria. Basically you want Renekton the support, huh?
